Does anybody know anything about the JHB Noordkruin tower, I'm barely 600m away from it apparently, according to nicroet's calculator, but can't see any kind infrastructure. What's up????
 
nicroets, when you click on "Include other users", is distance and degrees reported on the grey lines of the other users relative to my position or from their position relative to the tower?
 
Hi,

Can anyone give any information of when the Aasvoelkop tower will be commissioned? I'm about 1.9km from Northcliff, but I think there is a hill in the way. However, I do get 3 (THREE) bars of signal strength from Hyde Park. But I cannot connect to the base station. (according to the Zone Locator, I am 4.1Km from Hyde Park, but have line of sight). The official version is that, while I receive a good signal from Hyde Park, I am to far away for my modem to respond!

Sentech have sent out their techies (and tried to connect with their modems - and a patch/directional aerial to Hyde Park - with no luck)

They HAVE said that I should be able to get a decent (read:usable) signal from Aasvoelkop when it comes into service.

So the $64,000.00 question is - when will it be active - SenTech Tech Support said they hoped for the end of May ...

Can anyone give a firmer (read: accurate) date? ANd where exactly is it? I haven't been able to translate the co-ordinates (27.57.39 26.07.56) into a street address ...

The Northcliff tower is on north park plaza shopping centre and will be your best bet.
It seems to have no problems
But only is active on the 120 sector
Where about are you
 
Thanks ProAsm for your info about Loevenstein in Cape Town, but what has the church got to do with the tower going live? Is there an ETA for next week before the switch is turned on?

A lot of the Cape Town coordinates are wrong, the coastline ends at about 18.3E and anything below that would be in the ocean. I do not know whether the latitude coordinates are correct or not.
 
The Capetown co-ordinates are correct.
Btw - Goodwood tower will be the next one on [;)]

Thanx Nicroets - I went to the URL as you recommended, and then looked at the street address - it seems to be teh Northcliff side of Cresta. Thats why I was so confused - it's completely useless to me! I am close to Linden Hoerskool, so Aasvoelkop will be behind the hill (and actually the the Northcliff base station would be in between) - so how it will help me, I don't know.

Looks like I'll have to chase SenTech up again - 'cos Aasvoelkop won't help me. (I was going to suggest they could stick it up their ...) Maybe an arial of some sort ...
 
Can anyone tell me what are the coords for the Tygerberg Nature Reserve, Cape Town transmitters and if and when they will going live.

They wont place a tower on top of tygerberg hill. They will instead surround the area with towers. like Parow-north, loevenstein, durbanville and Springfield.
I think there are too many problems when placing tower next to High power emmitters like the ones on top of tygerberg.
Also the people on the slopes of tygerberg hill don't get good signal from those towers anyway.(It's too high up)

hi all,

A week ago i asked? "when will Loevenstein in Cape Town go live?" and ProAsm said the following: "About a week for completion"

So what is happening with the Loevenstein tower going live?
How long will it still take?
Please give all the info, no bull ****.

Loevenstein is complete but there is still an objection from someone that has to be sorted out.

I got all the latest feedback on Thursday and there was no mention on Bez at this stage.

almost impossible! (A single village idiot has the power to
prevent an installation... and you have lots of them)!!!
Also: Cell C are also currently experiencing these same problems
