Tower Location

Hey peeps,

How do I determine where the tower is that I am connected to?

Up to a moment ago, I was using the RAIN SIM in the supplied router. I just swapped the SIM out with the Telkom SIM in my B315-936 which is hooked up to an external antenna - just to see.
It connected to RAIN with no problem, but quality of signal is not so hot.

RSRQ: -8dB
RSRP: -87dBm
RSSI: -65dBm

I am not in the mood for sitting on the roof fiddling trying to figure out the general direction of the tower - so figured I would ask here first before climbing up there. If I could get a general idea of the direction of the tower - half my battle is won.

EDIT: Is there a map or something where the towers are setup is what I was referring to. Not "where is the tower based on my house" before the wise cracks start showing up

@DominionZA good point, trying to figure out the best location for my router. Tower map would be super helpful.

You can email them. Rain. and ask where is the closest tower.


They won't give you exact co-ordinates... but if you give them your address. They will tell you its facing. South of your house or North of West or East.. (or north west etc.etc)


Or if there is a well known place closeby.. they will say point your antenna or place router facing XXX street or KFC or whatever...
