Tower overloading

Right, the scum known as iBurst have now begun professionally overloading their centurion tower. 1 month ago it was possible to play battlefield 2 with an average ping of 80, now it hovers at around 500. this is shown by the modem lights. before they begun overloading i would ALWAYS and i mean always have 5 dots modem signal. now when its overloaded if i idle it is on 5 stars, sometimes, and if i transceive any data it drops to 2 stars and with the occassional half-a-second complete tower connection outage. iBurst, you are dirty, filthy, slimy, ahole scum, many people have asked me whether they should get iburst, i have told them not to and have told them to tell their friends.

PS. the network status report says centurion tower is up and perfectly functional (ala green dot). also the network incident report mentions no centurion tower problems for quite a while now.

I hate WBS they cant provide service to save their lives....
They just get you stuck in a contract and tell you to f#%* off

I have started to notice the same thing in my area.. Before I always got either full signal. Or between 4 and five stars. Now it does not matter were I put it . I can only get between 2 -3. It is doing the 1 and 2 star raiting as I type this.
 
Get utracestar and move your modem around till you find another sweet spot (lights mean nothing!). Height generally helps. They might've lowered the area of effect of the tower because they added more towers close by (I haven't monitored the new tower list but I know they have been popping new towers up all over the place). If you can't get a good signal, then add your tower to the ever growing list of bad towers ;P.
 
no trust me. ive been on the centurion tower since i got iburst(feb 2005). the tower has been good, my modem has been in the same place since i got iburst as well.
 
Is their anyway to tell how many people or at least get a round figure there are on the towers?
 
Get something like iconnect or utracestar and make sure that you aren't being bounced between 2 towers. wbs has been rolling out towers like crazy, you'll probably find that you are bouncing to another tower with weaker signal/further away, hence the drop in latency.

Makes sence to me :D
 
anyhow with the Hyde Park tower my inet is terrible!!! I cannot play any GW due to the High Latency and it LAGS me to HELL!!! it's rather irratating :(

My signal from the Centurion tower improved over the last 12 months. Then again, I moved closer towards it and a bit higher up. Sorry for stealing your bandwidth guys :D
 
well, here's proof, note the 3, 3 being for MAXIMUM tower load, i think they should develop a 4 just specifically for the centurion tower. Welcome to the Sentech age iBursters.. it has begun.

ok, tried iconnect, i got -77db on unknown tower and then utracestar had an error so i gotta try redownload it:( what is the usual thing to get on iconnect?
 
the signal boost from t=~80 is from me putting my parabolic reflector on. but this only helps the signal and not the overloading obviously. neways, with my signal (without the parabolic reflector) i (used to) get 120 KB/s average on a download as well as on the telkom speed test. the tower is clearly being overloaded... the scum has decided to do it sentech style
 
I have had a similar drop on the Plumstead tower in Cape Town, when I first got Iburst it was great and it slowly decayed over time. These days i hardly ever see speeds over 100kb. Used to happen all the time, even without a download accelerator at first.

I personally know tweo people who subscribed to my tower in the last 2 or 3 months, and shurely many more do every month. So I'm expecting speed drops to continue unless they do a upgrade sometime, it suks but ja...
