you should anyway change that diesel filter more than regularly. It is a 5 minute job.

Incorrect. The ecu stores diagnostic trouble codes.

ECU stores certain historic diagnostics codes.

For the sake of this discussion, most likely it will have this code stored.

Certain codes (mostly emissions) are cleared after 3 successful tests(after a single failure test that caused the CEL to come on)
