Im looking to replace my current ADSL modem and was looking at the uniterm direct website where i saw the TP link W8968 and i was wondering if anyone here has experience with this router.

See it has a USB port which is pretty nice since i can use it with the printer for sharing between home computers
Also the W8968 is a more recent model compared to W8960N
But i was wondering if I should rather take the W8960N instead of the W8968.

I was very happy with my 8960N until it got fried by lightning earlier this year

Highly recommend TP Link ADSL Modems, have installed many different models and never had any problems. They have a two year warranty and have not had to return one for credit or replacement. You only need the the USB port if you are using a 3G backup for when your ADSL line is down.

Best modems on the market at that price point. Go for it.

You can use that USB port for more than just redundancy!! Connecting printer or external hardrive/flash drive to name a few...

Exactly wat i had in mind but the W8960N does not have a usb port
So less features than the w8968
But yet its more expensive?

Im thinking that the W8968 is on the trendlink chipset and the W8960n is a Broadcom one.

Also how good is the W8960n wireless?
I need one thats quite powerful.

Better chipset on the W8960N yes, wireless range is outstanding too.

Haven't used the W8968N but I would imagine it to perform as well as the W8960N with the added benefit of USB port.

Ok thanks sandman have ordered the W8968N
Waiting for it to be delivered.
Will post some feedback soon actually replacing my trusty old billion/Telkom 5102G (need better Wireless) line got struck by lightning twice already everything else fried except the router.

Great Product, Great Price

Ok have received my order from uniterm, Must say I am extremely impressed with the W8968.
The setup was quick and easy and the menu layout is much better than the old W8960

And I did a firmware upgrade and this router now has 3G Fail over option added on the USB port.
The wireless range range is incredible with the two 8dbi antennas i added
have 3 Laptops on Wi-Fi and 3 IPhones and a nokia E7 including a Samsung Blueray and Smart TV connected to it via Wi-Fi
That is 9 Devices and its rock solid.

The Modem side is also working very well but I have a stable line have noticed a 7db increase on downstream SNR side compared to my old Billion.

How is the performance of your new TD-W8968 modem/router on the ADSL modem function and the Wi-Fi networking?

Any feedback about specific problems/highlights that you have found in daily use would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Well to answer your question, i am still extremely happy with this router.
Wi-fi range like mentioned above post is still excellent.
Also get good speeds even from far away with wireless N went outside with laptop in garden far away from router.
I got 270mbps with 2bars!
The router has never dropped a wi-fi connection did not even reboot it in 3 months.

The sync time is also much less compared to my old router, my old router took about 40 seconds to sync.
This one only takes about 10 seconds to sync a 4mbps line.

Also what is nice about the interface is that you can save multiple isp accounts on the router and just select connect/disconnect when needed.

Latency on the gateway also lowered when i started using this router
It was 11ms first hop with billion but with this router it's only 7ms

The only thing that does not work very well is the web user interface on an iPhone/iPad if you are too lazy to turn on your pc and you just want to change some setting quickly it does not always work like it should.
But works perfect on a PC with almost any browser.
