Over the last month or so I have had to reboot my router on the odd occasion to allow me to connect. However, the problem seems to be worsening. For the past few days, every time either myself or my wife shuts down or hibernates our laptops, on starting up again we cannot connect to the network and the issue cannot be resolved through the Windows networking troubleshooter, I have extracted the following info from the Windows diagnostics:

Result of diagnosis: Problem found

Root cause:
Wireless association to "network x" failed
A response was not received from the router or access point.

Detailed root cause:
Wireless association to this network failed. Windows did not receive any response from the wireless router or accesspoint.

Repair option:
Look for causes of low wireless signal quality
The signal is weak due to distance or interference.
Windows Help and Support can provide more information about this problem.

I now have to unplug the router (it doesn't have a power button) to reboot and then we can connect instantly without problem until the next time one of us disconnects from the network.

It's becoming a bit irritating. Has anyone got any ideas of what else I can try?

Thanks

Are you running stock firmware? I never tried the stock firmware on mine so I can't really comment on its stability, but I'm running OpenWRT on it now and it is rock solid. Not to mention all the extra features...

yep, running stock firmware, was thinking it might need an update, how easy is OpenWRT to use? routers are not something I've messed with before.

Maybe check for an update of the stock firmware first or try resetting the router (erasing all settings - should be in the manual).
OpenWRT is not that hard to use, but if you've never messed with router firmware before it's probably best to stick to stock firmware, unless you're feeling adventurous :)

Are you sure its the TP Link, they are basically switches. What adsl modem do you have connected to it. Mine is feeding a double storey house wirelessy without problem.
