Free, not via gps. MyLookout works but uses A-GPS so its accurate to 2-3km, which when tryna find a 100-200g phone is pretty useless. SmrtGuarg will cost u $3.99 pm and has the addition of offsite backup, remote wipe, anti-virus and anti spam to name a few. For about R30 once off you can get Wheres My Phone Pro, i have not used it but another guy in another thread recommended it and i check it out, also uses the GPS but has no backup, AV or AS. I prefer the all in 1 so ill pay the lil extra. I will probably use it for my mothers phone when i upgrade her to a berry next year.

A-GPS is the same as GPS, only better, in that it locks faster. It is not a sub standard; it's an improvement for devices that have the benefit of an internet connection.

"Standalone" or "Autonomous" GPS operation use radio signals from satellites alone. A-GPS additionally uses network resources to locate and utilize the satellites faster as well as better in poor signal conditions.

AGPS on its own is useless, if you have AGPS with GPS then its an advantage, but i have tested it with MyLookout that does not use teh handset GPS and it says rite there accuracy withing 1666m, and looking at the map, according to it my phone which is in my hand is according to the map at the spur across the road, not with SmrtGuard which uses AGPS and GPS it puts my phone in my back yard instead of my hand, now if you consider your handsets stolen, which would you prefer, a tracker to have an error margin of 6m or 2km?

If i were looking for my phone and i used MyLookout that has AGPS only, how long do you think it would take to search for my phone thats say under my bead when i start looking for it at the restaurant across the street. AGPS improved standard GPS accuracy and speed, but as a stand alone function its about as useful as throwing darts at a spinning globe. We are after all looking for a device that fits in your hand, not 40ft yacht.
