I wonder if you can search the online White Pages by number - there is a link somewere on the Telkom website
nope, only by surname & initials

Just post the numbr on here...let the community give this guy a really restless few nights

This guy gets his kicks by provoking a reaction from you. If you have caller ID enabled, simply ignore his calls, or answer the phone but leave it off the hook and walk away.

If no caller ID is available, then file a complaint with the SAP, mention that you're being harassed with threatening phone calls, and get the ball rolling. It might take a while, but he'll get nailed in the end.

Also document the times, dates, etc. that you received the calls, as well as the contents thereof - it'll be helpful if it gets to court. Not sure if recording the conversations would be legal or admissible in court without him being notified that the call is being recorded, but you could scare him off by telling him beforehand that all calls are being recorded and monitored - and achieve the same thing in the end, a stop to these harassing phone calls.

Finally, if you can hold your temper in check, try reason with him calmly. Maybe he's upset about something, and is displaying his displeasure inappropriately vis-a-vis the threatening phone calls. If it's not that, and he's really being an idiot, at least you know you've tried, and the records will back you up on that.

Just my 2c, VAT included.

If you have his number from caller ID then phone telkom and ask to have a service enabled like voicemail or something and then give the dudes phone number to the telkom person and they will ask: Are mr bob smith?. Hang up and do a search for bob smith on the whitepages and find out where he lives. Then go over to his place and kill him.

The gears at the SAP and Telkom move slowly. But they move.

I believe you need to open up a case first and get a case number before Telkom will even lift a finger.

I had a similar problem where someone using a Vodacom Public Phone kept on calling in the wee hours of the morning. I'd just answer the call and put them on hold, after 2 weeks i reckon they got bored and stopped calling. Vodacom themselves were useless in resolving the issue.

Auction

What i will do is when i get an adress is to arange a fictional auction on a Saterday morning starting at 07h00 so that he can feel how it feels like when people bothers you at that hours! :o

And thank you for the Bobardment jesture :p

Also had this problem for a while. Tried a few things... best one was a whitstle. Blow that mother fcuker as loud as you can ;-)

Although, to be honest, the best way to handle it is do as titanium said. Get a case number and all that. Much better satisfaction when you know the bastard gets a record or something.

Cheers, Nick

You can easily find out the name and address of the person, i noticed this the other day when i transfered my website domain and had left my old @telkomsa.net email addy in the whois information of the domain, so I couldnt complete the transfer. I needed access to that old email address.

So i phoned telkom internet and asked if they could restore my email addy just temporarly for me to recieve the transfer email. They then asked me for my telephone number ... so i gave it to her, but she (the telkom lady) misunderstood the last 2 digits of my number so she asked me if I was MR.****, which i of course was not, so i gave her my number again.

So thats how u can get that number u just call telkom ... but dial *31* then the telkom internet support number, so they cant trace ur number. Then when they (eventually) answer just give them that number u want to trace, they will then mention a name to confirm the caller, so this is where u write the name down. Then just go to http://phone.nitric.co.za and type the name in there and u can get the address.

Good luck :)

ohh and if u were wondering Telkom didnt let me restore my previous email addy to just recieve one email, I was asked to pay R15, so i just found some random guy in IRC who set up my old alias on his email account. :P
