Afternoon everybody. I am employed as a sales rep in the transport industry. As part of my employment I have to provide my own private car and my employer provides me with a petrol allowance via a petrol card.We do not recieve a car allowance or any form of payment for the use of my private car. My employer now wants to fit a tracking device to my private car to track my movements during the day (and maybe at night etc). I am not happy with this as I feel that this is my private car and not a asset of the company. I also feel that it infringes on my right to privacy etc. I also feel that as my employer does not pay for my car they cannot insist to fit a tracking device. I feel if they want to check up on my movements during the day etc they must either devise other ways of doing so , or pay me for the use of my car, or provide me with a company vehicle.
Can somebody pls refer me to the relevant pieces of legislation that I can use to counter the organisation's insistence to fit a tracking device?
