Hi I need some assistance pls would like to know if there somehow a way to track a Android device with the IMEI number pls reply?

Thanks bt unforgently the thief has immediately remooved the sims and I'm not really sure bt i think the device was also been factory reset

Sorry OP. Did you have a security pin on it?
I'm sure the Google lock with probably protect the phone a little, otherwise there is no hope right now.

I remember there was a mybb article about an android app that protect a phone from being factory resetted, I wonder where that article is.

One app that doesn't allow it to be switched off is Prey, but removing SIM (and battery, if removable) is enough to make it unable to be tracked. Protection software is more protect your data.

I remember years ago, I had a cheap cellphone which had a security function of smsing a preprogrammed number whenever a new sim is inserted into the phone...
I got into a little scuffle at a bar and my phone got snatched... Following morning my wifes got a message from the phone and we had the thiefs number... He was stupid enough to insert his company phone's sim into my phone so he had no way out and returned my phone after I googled the number, realising it was a company phone I threatened to call his boss and tell him what a thief his employee were.

That's quite good, should make a app like that. What would also be helpful is a kernel level feature that can be set to run a specified command after a certain amount of time has passed without it receiving a reset command either from the phone or online.

In other words automatic a format feature that remains even after wiping the device, better yet, have it brick the phone.

Guys, since when does removing the SIM make the android phone unable to be tracked? To my knowledge, no matter what SIM is in the phone, if the google account is still active and the phone is connected to a data network, it will respond when Google asks it for its location.

Or has changed recently?

They don't know how to unlock the phone. They have to factory reset it which resets the phone

Well, that assumes that the owner put some protection on it.

It sounds silly, but I've bought my first phone with a fingerprint reader only this year. Before that I had no protection on my phones this was mostly because my daughter started playing games on my phone and I just got used to pressing the power button to unlock.

But yeah, you make a good point there.

Did you read my post? I was responding to people who seem to think a phone cannot be tracked if the SIM card is changed.

Anyway in response to your question, have you ever heard of the FRP lock? Nobody accept OP will be able to get back into that phone if it runs Lollipop or later. You can't just steal and reset a phone and then log in with your own google account anymore.

And what if the sim has no airtime?

I'm pretty sure these thieves have someone who flashes the device with a ROM that can get past such locks?

Yes, unlocking the bootloader, flashing a new ROM and then some Paki shops will change the IMEI number for a bit extra
