If you heading to Pretoria, avoid the N1 North in Midrand. Apparently there is a accident after Samrand and the highway was closed for a while. Still backed up pass New Road.

Take R55 or otherwise to get onto N14 if you can.

Will update when it goes back to normal.

UPDATE:
N1 North still slow in Midrand (like 10-20km/h stuff). Still backed up to New Road (which is as far as I can see, so it might be further) from Samrand. Other roads going North like R55 and Lever road also very congested.

UPDATE2:
N1 North still very slow (17:00)

UPDATE3: 17:20
Just starting flowing in the past few minutes, vehicles zooming past now

On the N1?

Hectic... Wish they would put some web cams on there so we can see what the traffic's like.

I went through earlier, probably just as it happened as the queue was still getting to Olifantsfontein offramp. Looked like a truck overturned so pretty serious.
Friday and having the N1 closed = HELL!! Good luck to those having to travel to Pretoria later.

Any further updates on this? I need to head that way just about now. :o

seems like they employed a taxi driver to drive a construction vehicle.

Thanks... I'm going to use the long way around (R21) as I'm leaving from JHB CBD.

Oi, wonder how this will effect the fans on their way to Loftus for tonight's rugby?
