Durban - A traffic inspector was seriously injured in an accident on the N3 freeway near Peacevale on Wednesday, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said.

"The inspector was speed trapping when she was accidentally knocked down by a motorist," said ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks.

She sustained serious head and leg injuries and was airlifted to Entabeni hospital.

Little piggy eyes too firmly glued to the money printing device to see the car coming.

Suck it.

i used to regularly commute on that route. the cops where often on the side of the road, trapping. they'd step out into the road to stop speeding vehicles. i always wondered how long it would be before one of them got hit. this long, i guess.

people drive like idiots on that piece of road! i used to get serious road rage :erm:

Last Friday, I had rough one at work that was quickly turned around on my way home. Traffic was more of a mess than usual. The reason for it was then unveiled. A guy with a white delivery bakkie, knocked over a metro police woman, from her bike. I have to admit, I was thoroughly exploding with laughter when driving past the scene. Seeing that woman angry as a rhino, leaning against the wall, BWM metro bike in pieces and the bakkie driver cuffed, sitting against the wall looking all sad and stuff, was quite poetic.

Saved my Friday. Thank You Tswane Metro Police.

Come now, law enforcement is vital to ensure that order is maintained, laughing at the death or maiming of law enforcement officers is not cool.

Speed kills, you know it, and I know it.
Who will be laughing when a speeding driver kills their friend, child, parents or pet ?

exactly. isn't there another thread full of people bitching about the road racers that killed some high school students?

Ja JHatman, and that is why our country is in such a mess, because we do not have enough traffic cops around - NOT!

Start with murder and rape first, then go out and catch all those VERY BAD people that drive fast - all really only to make money for the local municipality!
70% of the JMPD traffic fines are illegal - breaking the same law they apparently uphold!

>>>>>>>>>>>>
It may shock you, but nearly 90% of speeding fines issued in South Africa are reported to have either technical or procedural irregularities, which make them invalid.

I saw no mention of speeding in the article. Perhaps I'm blind and you can point me to it :)

Anyway I agree that it's no laughing matter, it could be somebody's mom. She's just doing what her incompetent bosses have ordered her to do.

Agreed. What's so funny about a law enforcement official being injured by bad driving or something similiar?

One day i hope your child or wife or whatever gets run over and hurt badly by a speeding driver and let's see how much you are laughing then :D, i know i will be on the floor laughing my ass off if you post it on here.

Everyone in life has a job to do and that is her job. I am no fan of traffic officers either but geez to laugh at someone like this is sick.

Sad to say, but no matter how hard I try, I cannot find any sympathy in me.

A very childish response. Everyone hates speedtraps, even me, because I don't see the use of them other than making money, but wishing injury/death upon someone that you probably have never even met, or laughing at their misfortune, it pathetic. Grow up.

The pigs choose their methods of enforcing the law. If they think it's a good idea to catch speeding cars by running onto the road and scaring drivers, things like this will happen. If their efforts were truly concerned with road user safety, I think their methods would differ greatly. However their concern is not road safety, it's raising funds.

Who cares what their concern is. This is some kids mother earning money for her family not standing at a traffic light asking for hand-outs or flogging hooky dvd's.

My thoughts exactly. Bad driving and unroadworthy cars with unlicensed drivers kill. Doing 100 in an 80 zone just makes the pigs money. Broken windows you say? Start with the little things- enforce the most basic laws first: Cars must be roadworthy and drivers must be licensed.

From there you can target the people that have those qualifications and are driving "too fast". Speed fines are a scam. I hold every individual from the boss to the guy with the camera responsible. To blame your actions on "those were my orders" or whatever does not cut it for me. This chick will probably get a nice fat payout from the minister for being placed in harms way...
