I'm driving to Durbs today and I've got a SGS2 now...
Anyone got the POIs for static and mobile speed traps?

I tried it a while ago, not great locally and absolutely nailed my battery. I would love a maps or navigator overlay but haven't found one yet.

I am driving to the South Coast in a couple of weeks and I always forget the camera's at Maritzburg and Durban, if it can warn me about that I will be cool

Tried to switch it in once or twice yesterday during the trip, but the phone couldn't get a data connection.
The static cameras are not so much the issue with me cos I drive to Durbs 6 or more times a year, so I know must of them. it's those f'n cops that I can't stand.

just be warned about the Average Speed Zones... 1 when you coming down down the Van Reenen's pass, then another one between Escourt and PMB and a third one in the vicinity of PMB... You'll notice the CCTV-style cameras that are mounted on a pole that sits above each lane. So for those ones there's no escape. Sorry for the double post.

cool, thanks

How well does it work in SA? Anyone has some experience with it?

Works perfect in Cape Town. Saved my butt a couple of times. (Also warned against road blocks and the likes.) You'd be surprised how many people use this -well again, I can only speak for Cape Town and surrounds.
I don't really notice a difference in battery life on my Defy when using this.

Video capture with ANPR technology is becoming so common (and cheap) that it will be anywhere/everywhere soon ... static and mobile. All that is needed to capture many kinds of offences these days is a Go-Pro camera streaming to a GPS enabled tablet or notebook running ANPR software wirelessly connected to e-Natis. This will soon be on every cop and his/her vehicle. The static stuff is even much easier to do.
