Traffic fines ditched

The city of Joburg has been writing them off in batches for a decade now.
I've never bothered with following the AARTO procedure to have them scrapped, because when the JMPD effectively writes them off their books, they are effectively scrapped.

JMPD no longer have the ability to write off the fines as they're no longer administered by them

I have an R800 fine from December when we drove through Wilderness, en route home from PE. Drove 84 in a 60 zone.

There's so many things wrong with the fine that its laughable (as per the act)

1. There's another car in the north-eastern corner of the pic
2. No cross-hair to indicate the camera was aimed at the general vicinity of my headlights / numberplate
3. No photo of my numberplate at all - I know it was me, but THEY need to prove that
4. And the kicker...I got it via normal mail

None of those are issues. If they sent it to you then they made out your numberplate...

The refusal of so many motorists to pay fines has severely hampered the implementation of Aarto.

And they think that these same motorists are going to pay for e-tollie... Hahahahahaha

Mine was R400 for doing 84 in a 60 zone. Then again that road (Helen Suzman Blvd, Green Point) should be changed to a 80 zone.

Our main technician "accumulates" between 20 and 30 fines a year, the total since he started working is nearly 250. He has not paid one. The car that he drives is registered to the ex-wife of the other partner, at an address where the house was pulled down to build a block of flats in 2008. Every year they take the registration document to council to buy a licence disc for the next year. There is never any problem about the unpaid fines accumulating against this car, they just pay the R385,00 fee and that is that. No summons can be delivered since the registered address does not exist. I suggested to this partner that he tell Council his new address and got a look to suggest that was a stupid comment.
