Do you pay your traffic Fines?

Aarto has been implemented in Gauteng a long time ago. The problem with Aarto is that there are very strict timetables for the issuing of warning letters etc. If those letters are not issued in time, the fine goes into a state of limbo and unless you voluntarily pay the fine, there is nothing Aarto can do to enforce payment.

I have only paid one Aarto fine in the last few years and that was when by accident the authorities managed to issue the letters in time. The rest I have ignored.

On principle, I also never pay a non-Aarto fine unless a summons is issued and delivered at my home. In most cases the cost of delivering the summons is more than the actual fine and I therefore never receive any summonses.
 
Just received notification from the queue4u that my license disk has been withheld.

Courtesy Letter - R310, NEVER DELIVERED
Courtest Letter - R1060, NEVER DELIVERED
Enforcment Notice - R370, NEVER DELIVERED
Infringement Notice - R500 NEVER DELIVERED
Enforcement Order - R870, NEVER DELIVERED
Infringement Notice - R125, NEVER DELIVERED

Looks like I have to submit 6 AARTO 08 Representation forms to dispute. What a pain in the arse.

Anyone else run into this yet?
 
Update: Had the two enforcement letters revoked.

1. Complete AARTO Form 14 (Application for revocation of enforcement order)
2. Sign and have stamped/signed by commissioner of oaths
3. Email to [email protected]

Process takes 21 days.
 
I pay my fines if I was in that area at around that time.

I'm not some slacker that blames everyone else for whatever and make excuses and think up reasons for not being able to control myself and stick to the speed limit.

I recently received a small fine, for the first time in many years (3+ at least), was unfamiliar with road and area.
 
1/6 I've received I've paid, the other 5 are either: not my car, multiple cars on the same image, illegally set up. Should have contested the first one as well, but I was dumb at the time.
 
Received 2 in 52 years, paid one speeding fine in 60 area far out before one reaches Koster. The second one was not my car for parking in an area where I haven't been for more than 25 years.

2 non-driving (so not speed, reckless, etc) related in 13yrs.., 1 for driving without license disk / expired, 1 for being without drivers license albeit I had a temporary license in laptop bag in boot but officer refused to let me get it (wtf probably knew I’m not bribing).

Same incident.. was told to just settle which is cheaper in 1st month and move on with life.
 
Wrt speed.. if you use Waze & keep eyes on road you don’t get caught out.

That and common sense.. like when driving outside of city.. approach a town, likely gonna drop to 80 & 60km/h.. so if you auto ready for that and similar at 4/3way major intersections.

But then I kinda stick to limits so won’t be an issue
 
I know that i had a few of tickets from 3-6 years.

Sometime last week I logged into payfine.co.za to check and to my surprise. My profile was clear with no fines listed.
 
I have an issue with a fine I received.
Firstly, I wasn't in the area the fine was issued. Secondly, the fine is for driving with an expired license disk, which is not true.
I am not sure how the fine was issued, perhaps cloned plates but then the disk should also have plate numbers (my SO been receiving etoll bills whilst living in Cape Town).

I have proof that the license was paid before the date the fine was issued.

How can I resolve this without wasting time going to the courts?

The point is not about making excuses. The issue is non-compliance by the authority that translates into costs for the road user.
 
Is anyone else having issues with the paycity website? I try to view my fines and it gets stuck at the "Retrieving your traffic infringements ... " screen and get a service gateway timeout error. Maybe they were load shedded...

Yes it often is, "it's just a money making excercise by the metro so I won't pay" is just an excuse, nothing to do with technical non-compliance by the authorities or else it would be what the person would have said.

I have a similar issue, some car with the last registration plates of my current car was given two fines for not having a valid licence in Cape Town after I bought the car in Johannesburg and had it transferred and registered in my name on GP plates. I have sent dispute emails to two separate email addresses for the Cape Town traffic department but have heard nothing thus far and will only be in Cape Town next year March.

Worked fine (intended) for me last night, I see I was going 71 in a 60 zone. Paid the R400.

So i checked again and it seems the site was on not working nicely when i checked my fines.

They are still there valued @R3440.00
Interestingly i did not get any ticket in 2018.

I logged into PayCity recently to pay a fine on a rental car, and it notified me of three outstanding fines on my personal car (which I'd never received). *sighs* Paid four fines in one day, that was ouchies.
