Traffic shaping on my Afrihost Capped account?

I had my new Telkom 4Mbps line installed and activated my Afrihost 200GB Capped account yesterday, and everything seemed hunky-dory. However, my torrent downloads seem to be MASSIVELY shaped. Speed spikes to about 70KBps before dropping to below 1KBps, stays there for a few seconds, spikes to 70-ish again and so on. I've tried this with multiple torrents (some very well-seeded), and am using uTorrent 3.4.2 Pro. On my 4Mbps line I should get at least 200KBps, and once the speed actually spiked to that area, but the fact that data transmission seems very intermittent and overall slow is undisputable.

As some of the work I do requires that I mirror my data with torrents (we mirror some repositories with that method such as Linux package installs), this is a very serious limitation of my account. I'm not saying that's all I use torrents for, but as Afrihost advertise their capped accounts as being unshaped, I find this a very big oversight. If there's no way for me to resolve this, I might just consider moving to another ISP. Any suggestions?

Hi DarthRiven

Sorry I'm only jumping onto this thread now, we usually monitor the official threads for feedback :) http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...back-(MTN)?p=14855028&viewfull=1#post14855028

Anyway, sorry to hear you aren't seeing the best experience with us. I can assure you that our Capped DSL accounts are most definitely unshaped. I feel as though something else is going on here - could you send me a PM with your DSL username and any tests you've been able to run so I can get a better idea of what's happening?
