What a pleasure.
I wish they would stay away permanently. Took me 5 minutes to get to work, no traffic, no road rage just absolute bliss.
Cosatu, please make this a permanent thing.:)

Same here. Was an absolute pleasure driving to work. Normally takes me just over an hour but today it took less than 50 minutes. We need a subway system badly!

And the main thing is no one cut me off. People generally seemed happy on the roads, no one going through any red lights. No one driving on pavements. This is a clear indication of the hazard these taxis pose on our lives every day.
GET RID of them

GET RID of them

If you get rid of them taxis, you must have an equally "effective" transport means because the people that use these taxis are the ones contributing the majority % to the country's economy.

Yeah it was a pleasure going to work today and I was running late but it only took me 10 mins to get into work Midrand to Morningside, it was heaven.

I need not bother going to work today. No staff... Shop closed... 30k turnover lost...

Why marine, they are protesting against the Government, we sit and bitch on myadsl.

Atleast they are trying to do something. More than i can say about the people who bitch the most on an internet forum.

almost all my staff are stranded, not good for business :(

What are they trying to do, and how do they hope to achieve it?

You're making a value statement saying that action is better than no action. But is action that has a negative effect better than no action? Using that argument, you could say that murder was better than not murdering.

Protesting against high electricity tariffs?!!!! Does Cosatu realize that ESKOM is in the sh it they in cause they haven't upgraded and maintained their infrastructure? How should ESKOM manage their business without the budget to do it??!! Would Cosatu prefer ESKOM to halt all maintenance reduce the price of electricity to its members by lets say 50% and continue with load shedding and the moratorium on new business?!!! Lets see what that does for foods prices/inflation... fu cking donkeys are absolutely clueless. What they should be doing is encouraging productivity, instead 2 million strike and we lose another 16 millions man hours... good work...

I don't know i have the feeling Eskom did what enron did and lied to us to get more money.

Funny how the power is fine through winter.

I hardly see how one can compare this strike to murdering someone.

so they protest about the increases in prices due to the state of the economy, by staying away and causing more harm to the economy?

somebody please explain to me how nobody in the entire organization of Cosatu or the Government was able to explain this to these monkeys?

It's not a protest... it is a holiday.

I was asked why I am not participating in the strike, and why whites in general are not participating.

I answered that firstly, it's not my employers fault that the government is corrupt; secondly if COSATU called this strike what it really is- a protest against the corrupt current administration of our country- then maybe white people would be more willing to participate. And thirdly, that the appropriate forum to air these grievances is at the ballot box with a vote against the ANC.

Farkall to do with taxis.
You really think a few taxis missing has made a difference to traffic?
It is more a case of the number of people who did not go to work - I know of at least 10 people at home today to avoid the striking looters in the CBD.

Yup, it reminds me of those who burn schools in protest against poor schooling facilities.
