Hi guys.

I want to transfer my entire adsl package to webafrica - ie. a 4mbps uncapped account and a 4mbps line rental.

i currently have a 2mbps line with telkom. Here are my questions:

1. How long does the process take?
2. The telkom account is currently in someone else's name. Does this make a difference?

Thanks for your replies.

Showstopper: That person will have to initiate the transfer.

There are three important points here:

1) only the account holder can initiate the transfer of the line, whether this is with WebAfrica or Telkom
2) the line speeds upgrade you should probably do before migrating
3) WebAfrica should be guiding you through this process if you've made contact, otherwise contact them, as their migration processes may be unique

I remember a few years ago I transferred a line (that was not in my name) to my ISP. All that the ISP required from me, was a copy of the account holder's ID and their details. It was not as if the account holder had to first create an account with the ISP or anything like that.

Hopefully, other ISPs are the same, because I'm also about to transfer my line to a different ISP (current ISP -> Telkom -> new ISP). The line is still not in my name.

RICA ... is all.

EDIT: and unethical business practice.
