Thanks Zertop, wow you certainly didn't spare any effort! Theoretically it should be that easy, I think the reason it's taking so long to create the export / transfer file has a lot to do with other problems on the PC, which is why we are scrapping it. I'm hoping that the problems others have experienced were more to do with older versions. Auntie said the import menu options in the new version looked different to the same options in the old version. I would really have liked to update the older one so were are transferring between identical platforms but it absolutely refused to update. I then copied the new version onto a flash drive thinking I could manually install it on the old machine, but what if it decides to overwrite the entire old version - mail and all? So I chickened out.

Okay I see the issue. Logically it shouldnt overwrite the mail - that'll just be daft and idiotic programming.

Here is the link to the tut: http://help.incredimail.com/english/help/im/transfer_incredimail.html

It should be okay to use old data for a new platform, but just make sure the version on the new computer is equal or bigger than the version on the old pc. Try going to

C:\Documents and Settings\{Profile Name}\Local Settings\Application Data\IM\Identities\

There should be a folder with a lot of random letters. Inside that folder, copy MessageCache to the new pc - under the new pc's GUID (random letters folder). You might have to create a temp email address on the new pc so that it will create the GUID folder :D

Sorry I can't be more help, I haven't dealt with incredimail 7 years, so I am not an expert :D

Hmmm.... Sadly I didn't get to try any of that. Had to work at a customers house on Monday and Tuesday so couldn't spend any time on the mail thing. Anyway, auntie got restless and tried the export / import options herself, IM crashed halfway through the import process and the old stuff ended up staying on the old PC. Probably just as well :)
