OK, just picked up my wife's Xperia and my Touch HD... they busy charging :D

Got a couple questions...

1. What is the easiest way to transfer contacts, etc from a SE W850i to the Xperia?
2. What is the easiest way to transfer contacts, etc from a N95 to the Touch HD?
3. What GPS software should I look at getting? Garmin or TomTom?
4. Where is the best place to pick up a screen protector for the Xperia?

The HD came with a protector, but the Xperial din't :(

Method One (over the air)
1.get a gmail account if you havent got one, then have a look look at
http://www.google.com/mobile/default/sync.html
2.remember to back up your phone contacts first
3.sync the old phones first then the new ones
this is easy as your syncs are done with out a pc
becarefull and do the backups cause they warn that it can delete ure contacts completely, I didn't have a problem but that is maybe cuase i deleted all my gmail contacts first
Method 2(With a pc)
1.sync to outlook with nokia/erricson pc suite old phones
2.pluging new phones and sync to outlook
if you have a mac use method one or let me know and i'll check the relevant software for u

As far as gps is concerned I used both garmin and tomtom and have deleted garmin. Not that garmin is not not good but somehow i personaly enjoy tomtom. Xperia screen protector i purhased generic one from vodashop and just cut it to size.

Thanks for the info, think I will use the Google sync... didn't even know it existed :D

I think I will try both both TomTom and Garmin before commiting to one of them.

I managed to find a generic "Fellowes" protector, will just need to cut it to size.

If you are interested in a kind of try before u buy app store for win mobile pm me and I'll give u the link. Did not know winmo was so versitile till i found this site

... and once you're on WM, open a free account at www.myphone.microsoft.com, install MyPhone on the WM device, and sync to the cloud. Now your contacts, calendar, tasks, messages, files, photos, etc are on the web, easily accessible, and always sync-able to your WM device.

You can even edit your stuff on the web and sync back to the phone.

PS. This is still a beta, so don't worry about the security certificate warning.

Thanks guys
I just sync'd with Outlook at the end of the day, but will definately try the MyPhone option to have it available from anywhere.

Was just going to suggest Outlook. :)

I switch phones a lot and the only reliable method I've found is Outlook.

EVERYONE syncs with Outlook, so I use my Outlook purely as a contact sync systems. Don't use it for mail at all.

Right now, I've got an iPhone, 3 BB's, a HTC and a Nokia plugged into my PC. And they'll all be in sync. I can take any one of them and add/delete/edit a contact and the next time I plug it in, the others will sync.

you know i clearly am not in the right industry. I need to stop designing buildings and start designing things for vodacom. Maybe then i can also brag about having 6cellphones plugged into my pc. Although it might be a nuisance. My friend is a director at ..... Has to carry two cellphones with him and the BB does not fit into jean pockets nicely.

Just as a FYI, when you've actually been out of school for more than 2 years (you matriculated last year, or the year before right?), you'll notice that over time you tend to accumulate stuff.

I got my first cell phone when you were still in nappies and I tend to not break stuff. So, over the last 15 years I've accumulated a large number of phones, PDA's, etc. All of which I bought, BTW. And with something like 10+ contracts, new phones tend to arrive with some frequency.

Regarding BB's not fitting into jeans. Tell your buddy that while you appreciate his very tight jeans, the BB Curve is one of the smallest phones around and fits into normal jeans without any problem. Or maybe he's worried that you think he's excited to see you every time you guys meet up? ;)

In any case, the topic was how to sync different phones and I gave a good, working solution. So let's stay OT?

haha. Except my buddy is probably your buddy too. There's a reason i never mentioned which company He was a director At :) and i was in matric 3years ago. But your logic still applies i guess. I find synching my contacts with google is okay. Wish opera mini had a function Like that.
