Hi guys

Has anyone managed to get IBurst to remove the transparent proxy for their connection? I have a client who uses multiple online applications (both local and international) that require your IP address to remain static throughout the session. As connections seem to be routed via a different proxy server every time you click on something, you get logged out every 5 seconds! Moving these applications on to SSL is not an option as it would put too much load onto these servers.

So:
1st prize: removing proxying all together - anyone managed this? What are the steps?
2nd prize: removing proxying for local servers only - as above, not sure why this is even done!

Perhaps consider implementing a VPN type of solution for this problem, where the client will only communicate with the end application through the VPN. Then the VPN will take care of the IP Address issue.

It will also be a lot more secure, with you being able to control exactly who has access to your application.

It's not that difficult to set-up, and can be configured to automatically configure itself every time the iBurst connection is connected, though ... it will require some testing to get 100% perfect.

Hi guys..

If you are having an issue with certain destinations please e-mail them to me so that we can try an exclusion.

Let me know.

I can appreciate your frustration... but this is not in fact iBurst's fault :p The HTTP standards require absolutely no statefulness of the source IP and if the apps are using IP address for authentication then it is the app that is broken

davemc has provided a good suggestion or you can ask Shaun to exclude the site from the transparent redirect.

Yeah I realise. But due to the security issues the IP address is stored, if your ip changes during a session then the app kicks you out (rightly so to prevent session hijacking). VPN will work, but I don't really want to route their traffic all the way to the US just to route in back to SA again (local costs would be too high). I'll try the exclusion route, it should suite their needs.

Do iburst rout all traffic through proxies?

Basically what the title says. lately when I try to dl from megaupload I get told that my IP is already downloading... This would only make sense if all iburst users appear to have the same IP address to megaupload. Heres the error message I get, "If 41.213.126.12 is not your IP address, you may be sharing a proxy or NAT gateway with other users. If you have configured an HTTP proxy in your browser, disable it and try again. If you don't have a proxy configured, using a different download port may bypass your ISP's proxy. If you see your real IP address listed below, please select it, then try your download again:"

Can anything be done to bypass this?

Getting this sometimes on other "free-&-wait-OR-pay" similar file storages, after waiting for timer to countdown 10...30...60seconds: "Sorry, your IP is already in use." or "Your IP is on blacklist."

Switching off modem for 30min usually changes IP.

Most isp's in SA use transparent proxies for web ports

As far as i know, its due to South Africa's limited local to international bandwidth ratio. We have a limited number of 'international IP's' causing the conflict. It sucks, but just keep resetting your router till you find one that works, or just find a proxy site that works and use that.

It is easier to reset modem, than to find working proxy. Tried that.
It just not loading pages or times out or gives "banned address" warning or making process impossible (not loading "numbers to enter" pictures), unless using a paid proxy or private one (which one is hard to set up or too costly).

Resting my modem hardly ever works and after trying 10 times I cant connect again fro 10 minutes  I found what I was looking for as a torrent DL so it's all good.

Is there a way to get off the transparent proxy? What about if you pay the extra and use static IP address - can they unhook you in that situation?

Use another proxy...

If your are on a static IP and the pipe your traffic through the transparent proxy you are still screwed.

Like OoMk0o5i3 said, I think the only way would be to use a second proxy but then you will still be sharing that proxy with other people, possibly even more. If only megaupload an RS tracked download with something else besides IP addresses. Maybe mac addresses but I think that would be to problematic to implement.

The MAC that they will see will also be the mac of the transparent proxy. If they do any kind of connection tracking on the server side they will see the proxy's info. If they use client side scripting you would most probably be able to "help" your your downloads. RS and MU use a combination of server side and client side scripts.

If I remember correctly you are not allowed to use a source ip as part of your connection tracking, since different packets may be routed through different routes and cached on other proxies, except in the case of secure protocols, but I can't remember the details.

The only way to avoid going through the a transparent proxy is to connect to the website on a port other than port 80 or to tunnel your traffic to another server running on a different port.

I believe however that there is a dev team working on the proxies to solve this problem ;)

Iburst blocked as a leaching robot

Although my computer reports that I have an IP in the 41.208.... range whatsmyip.com confirms the below IP address...which is iburst (perhaps a proxy?)

Please fix if anyone at work

Probably from somebody whose PC was infected and got banned as a result.

Try renewing your public IP and see if that helps?
