I often see the same cop trapping along the R300. His favorite spot right now being just after the Stellinbosch Arterial on the way to the N1.
I saw him early this afternoon on the way to Mitchells and so on the way back to bellville I drove extra slow (speed being 60km/h) at like 45/50km/h.

He sees me coming, looks up, then proceeds to write my number plate down in his scrap book!? wtf is that about?

Its a really good place to trap because the road finally opens up and the traffic is more free flowing at that point, yet it goes from being 80km/h (for like 1 km) to 60km/h.

That cop must be breaking some record with fines at the amount of vehicles that speed along that route!

Its come to a point where I just drive 60km/h all along the dam R300, even though I see grannies, cyclists and 30 year old 5 ton trucks zoom past me, I just know there is always that cop trapping somewhere along that road.
When I finally do see him...then its pedal to the metal...not very often you see 2 cops trapping on the same stretch of road.

I saw him this morning sitting on the section where the R300 goes from a dual carriage way to a single (under the fly-over), direction N1. I was coming from M/Plain, just past the N2 turn-off then the road goes from 120/kph to 100, 80 then 60 in a matter of a few kms. Well I normally reduce speed just as I enter the "single" carriage way, then keep to 60 for most of the time. Problem is that he was sitting just ahead of that, so I'll check this eve but I'm sure he got me BEFORE I reduced speed

Agree with you, he must be setting some sort of record on that road. Can't wait for the road works to be completed!

Yea, I have seen him there before as well. I was the only car in site, so I thought entering at 100km/h would be fine. Nope, P!G sitting under the bridge just as the road works begin. As you mentioned. Got me good.
Thats why I just travel the speed limit now, no matter how ridiculous it may seem and no matter how many people hoot, Im sick of giving away money.

I had a cop today on the R300 approaching from Mitchell's Plain to the point where the dual lanes closes into one.

So I'm bleddy overtaking a dumbass truck driver that cut me off as I was about to go past and accelerated to overtake (not knowing there's a 80/60kph zone coming up) only to find Don Juan on bended knee giving me the eye as I passed him.

I'd slowed down as I'd seen his car and we looked at each other straight in the face when I passed him - neither of us were too impressed with each other.

If I do get a fine for it - I'm contesting!

lol seems like they are nailing down on the wrong guys. they should attack the taxi's as far as I am concerned look at what they do and how they use the road. or have the cops written different road rules for them. if so can we also do the same test that they do to get there licence?

I just received a fine in the post for R500. Doing 90 in a 60km zone. Where...?
N1! YES!! the bloody N1 for goodness sake. Yea they are doing road works on the road, but for piets sake, who slows down from 120 to 60km/h in like 300m?

Im waiting for the bloody summons, I hope it never arrives.
As for driving, meet the new 'Driving Miss Daisy'

I actually wish everyone in CT would drive the speed limit, just for one month, I would love to be in the boardroom meeting (or is that a doughnut shop) when they discuss that situation!!

I got a R500 fine there in December
Now I set cruise control to 60km/h.

Even the fscking Golden arrow buses speed past me all the time there.

Last night on N1 inbound there was an unmanned camera trap. Nice one! Especially after the chaos in traffic during the day. I had the cruise control on 60 so didn't get flashed but saw the flash go off at least 5 times as I approached it. 60kms on the N1. Nuts.

yea the speed restrictions they put on some roads is ridiculous.
Apparently speed is not the main reason for accidents.

On the Durban Road Bellville going to Durbanville, its a 60km/h road, even though its 2 lanes and in pretty good condition.
With my new driving attitude, I do drive the limit, but it feels painfully slow and Im definitely the slowest car every time!
