Well, are you talking budget wise or season wise?

Hate to post the typical no help response. I don't have first hand info.

Two colleagues mentioned yesterday that via Dubai on Emirates was surprisingly cheap to New York. Emirates goes direct to Dubai from CPT.

well as we could not go last year due to health reasons we are trying for this year now. last year my wife and i were going over but this year we wanna take our youngest with us so it would most likely have to be during a school holiday and as there are 3 of us we are trying for the cheapest flights from here to florida. and as you mentioned Waaib i have also heard that if you fly to another country first then get a ticket to the states its sometimes cheaper but i have no idea how that works. last year Flight centre had the perfect price but we had to let it go.

September is also a nice month to go in. Flight wise, i have to agree with Waaib, via Dubai is MUCH cheaper. Its longer hours, but its about 30% cheaper.

Whatever deal you see, take it to Flight Centre. They claim to be able to beat any deal. They've managed it for me (locally, anyway) every single time. Put their claim to test; it can't hurt.

Flights

I spoke to a pilot I know about flying from SA to the USA. His suggestion was Air France or Delta. I flew with Delta. Other than landing in Dakar to refuel, the flight was a non stop flight. Delta also offered me the cheapest flight. That was back in June, 2007. One website to keep an eye on for international travel is vayama.com

The stopover flights are cheaper, donno why but it just is.

The only problem with stopover flights are they are very "taxing" on the body, so it takes a bit longer to get back to normal again.

It depends on the availability for the cheaper seats Wayne...so let me know what dates you are looking at going...April holidays or the June Holidays?
Pm me your dates and let me have a look at it for you...MBB Promo Price. :D

The indirect flights are normally cheaper as they have to "incentivise" people to take the flights over more direct flights.
From my professional experience is that Delta might be best as their tickets through to your final destination (your case Florida) might actually work out cheaper as if you were to buy tickets on Emirates to JFK and then get another ticket from JFK to Orlando or so.

Had a quick look and KLM has some CRAZY fares at the moment.
Under R4k for flights to Orlando excluding the taxes (airlines charge the taxes not the agents) subject to availability for your dates.
It is a ridiculous promo so let me know asap what the dates are.

Delta definitely. I don't know, I think the best time to go is December/Jan personally, but hell if you're going to Florida, anytime is good I guess.

If you want no queues at Disneyworld then mid Jan is the only time to go!

.

Not necessarily. With loads of airlines flying from JFK and EWR to Orlando, tickets can be picked up dirt cheap on expedia, travelocity, etc- or even the airlines own website.
Personally, I'd fly any other carrier than a US one because their standards have gone down the tubes since all that cost cutting began way back when. PLUS I don't like the Dakar stop at the ungodly hour and have security rummage through everything again- It's almost like Security doesn't trust their own Security in Atlanta!
Still people will look for the cheapest fares if it's on their own dime, but as I said before, I couldn't travel 18 hours plus. I'd rather split the journey in Europe and stretch my legs!
