Anyone know the best place to get a Yellow Fever vaccination around Cape Town? Can any GP just do these?

Also, do you know if South Africans require any other vaccinations besides the Yellow Fever vaccination? I'll be travelling via Brazil (which is why I need the Yellow Fever one) to Mexico then to Honduras. I looked online and it looks like it's the only one which is required.

TIA

Try the MKem 24 hour pharmacy in Durban Road, Bellville. They have a dedicated travel clinic and generally have stock of most vaccinations, where doctors may have to order in.

Thank you. I'll give them a call.

You might want to consider hepatitis injections as well. But the travel clinic will advise you about which vaccinations you should get.

If you are in the CBD, Travel Clinic at 11th Floor Picbel Parkade, 58 Strand Street, Cape Town

Aren't you worried about catching autism?

Sugar tits had to get yellow fever and hepatitis vaccines before going to that part of the world a few years ago.

Thanks for the Mkem suggestion @sgs, glad I went there. Didn't require an appointment just arrived and wrote my name down, waited for 15 minutes and then they helped me. They had basically all the vaccines on hand but just did the Yellow Fever and Hep. A shots, cost about R920 for both.

Felt a bit light-headed for a few minutes afterwards but that may be due to my irrational fear of needles :D Nurse said I can possibly expect flu like symptoms after a few days due to the Yellow Fever shot.

Have my travel certificate now and good to go!

Should have gotten Typhoid too while you're there. It's useful for going to Moz

Also: Pro-tip - when travelling on biz check this stuff carefully - it's a good chance to get all that kark while employer pays. Even if it's not compulsory if there is risk it'll generally fly for expensing purposes.
