MTN are trenching in my road and according to the residents association they are only allowed to trench on one side of the road. They are trenching across from my house, do they have to trench both sides of the road for fibre or do they just do it on one side and cross over some-how? Pardon my ignorance but I'm just trying to understand if I need to wait until their next phase to get fibre on my side of the road.

They will have to trench both sides of the road for Fibre.

Are you sure that they are busy installing fibre in your area, and not the Cell Towers they have been putting up everywhere?

To cross the road you would normally bore under it but this is hugely expensive for one property but would be justifiable if there was a large complex on the other side.

Definitely trenching, got a notice from MTN/ZTE telling us what roads and house numbers are affected
