Hi,
The reason I'm posting this in this section is that maybe one of the more technical (v3g or IC) will see it and have an answer.
My Treo 680 simply stopped SMSing out today. It dials in/out, connects to the net and receives ... but won't send out. I googled the error and found that the carrier can sort it somehow, and was wondering if you guys knew about an 'unlock code' for SMS? A few replies indicating the carrier can fix it :/
I too was JUST now getting the same problem with my brand new Treo 650. I could not send ANY txt messages out, of any size... it would just give me error 4058. Just for everyone elses' reference and help, I just called Cingular tech support, and they applied a newer unlock code to my service that immediately fixed the problem. Apparently they had an old code, but it wasn't working very well, and now they have a new one that works pretty much across the board.
Thx. It appears as if the 4058 error is a configuration error at Cingular, and the only way to get it fixed is to call in to tech support. They fixed it for me, and it seems to be working fine now.
Thanks Chris and the group...I called cingular (611) and they fixed this issue in about :30 seconds. The problem is on their end. At least I know I can come here and get options....
Any idea? Or do I need a new phone?
