Hi guys. I'm selling my laptop. I want a software that'll clone my hard drive and when I get my new laptop, just deploy the image with no hassles and everything working fine. Obviously I don't want stuff like drivers to be in it. Just the OS, the programs, partitions and everything else the exact way it is. And how bout that be done? Is it possible?

Your best bet is Acronis. They have a cloning facility that does what you are looking for.

Acronis software can do it.
Norton Ghost can do it.
Heck, lots of gadgets from VMware can do it too...

Is deploying simple as installing the software on the new machine, clicking the image and waiting an hour or 2. And job done?

Transplanting an OS like that will not be 100%. Windows setup assigns resources based on the machine specs when you first install it. It'll work just fine...but it'll never be as good as a clean install.

Drivers will be included, but that isn't really a problem.

Yeah it's sort of like cutting off someone's head and putting it on another body... it generally doesn't go down well. Your best bet would be a fresh installation, make a backup of the previous hard-drive to an external drive so you can pull anything you want off it at your leisure.

Also is the person you're selling it to aware that it isn't coming with any software?
