Torrentflux is up and running again. The problem is caused by a faulty torrent. This issue will be resolved once we have installed a new bittorrent client.

We're done with system maintenance and Torrentflux is open again.

UPDATE:

FTP functionality are now available on Torrentflux. Details are as follow:

Host: ftp.torrentflux.co.za
Username: your torrentflux username
Password: your torrentflux password
Port: 21

Enjoy ;)

my speed test on TRL uncapped 384kb/s

Torrentflux is not locked, I've checked just now.

With regards to your speed test, we are still awaiting a reply from IS. Remember that you are running on a shaped account. Shaped accounts were designed for basic web browsing and e-mails. Although we offer value-added services such as Rapidleech and Torrentflux, we cannot guarantee the speed since there are many factors to take into account. No ISP can guarantee speeds on a shaped uncapped account. If you would like full download speeds then you must consider getting yourself an Express account, which are unshaped and uncapped. On an Express account we can guarantee the download speed. Should you wish to change to Express, PM me and I'll work something out for you. ;)

i get this with my telkom account

You cannot compare a shaped uncapped account with a capped Telkom account. This will be like comparing apples with bananas :)
As previously explained, Telkom measures line speed in: Kilo bits per second. Download speed are measured in Kilo bytes per second. On a 384 Kilo bits per second you should get download speeds in the region of between 40 Kilo bytes per second and 48 Kilo bytes per second. You would never receive 384 Kilo bytes per second on a 384 Kilo bits per second line, as this is impossible.

i dont expect to receive 384kilo bytes i expect 384 kilo bits per second line not a 100 kilo bit line

You have signed up for a shaped account. Shaping means that some internet protocols would be faster than others, hence the reason we cannot guarantee the speed on shaped accounts.

I've send you a PM.

Morning Reuben

TorrentFlux is locked again and the FTP fails authentication in FileZilla. ETA on up and running again?

@dryburn.macbook - if you can download HTTP links and FTP from TorrentFlux at 40 - 48Kb/s, there's nothing wrong with your connection. I'm currently also on a 384Kbps line, and while SpeedTest rate my connection as 0.2Mbps download and 0.01Mbps upload, I still get my 45Kb/s downloading. (my connection is also shaped, and not with TRL, I'm with Wish Wireless Networks)

yes reuben internet protocols are shaped... IE torrents, news servers, but i have even tried downloading my email it downloads at most 15kb/s!!

you cannot give me a 20 kilo bits per second line when i am clearly paying for a 384 kilo bits per second line

Thanks for reporting this. Torrentflux is up and running from my side but there seems to be a problem with the FTP. I'm busy investigating.
