Trouble Installing Photoshop CS3 on Windows 7 (64bit)

Has anyone had any trouble installing Photoshop CS3 on Windows 7 (64bit) ?

I get this lovely message when I try to install it.

Ive tried running setup as Administrator, and tried running it in compatibility mode. I don't know whats wrong.

I used the exact install files on Vista and it worked. but now on Windows 7 it doesn't. If anyone perhaps knows of what could be my problem please please for the love of the universe please help :(
 
I installed CS3 on both Win 7 home & professional 64-bit systems and not had any problems.

It should have installed it in a directory Local disk/Program Files (x86).
You googled your errors?
 
Yeah I have googled the problem, and ive gone through adobes knowledge base, ive tried it all.

I have to get CS4 then because i cannot work without photoshop. sigh :(
 
This is very weird. I have an oldish PC (with AMD processor 64-bit just about) and a new laptop with intel processors. Neither had any problems.
Have you got all the latest 64-bit drivers installed for your hardware? (grasping at straws here)

It seems like you have a whole suite of programs. Can you select individual options to install, i.e. if you install only photoshop and not dreamweaver or anything else?
 
Yeah i will try updating my drivers when i get back from work

The 2 programs i need most are Photoshop and Fireworks, dreamweaver maybe

ive tried just installing the above mentioned but it still wudnt install them.

Well i am downloading PS CS4 now as we speak sigh -_-
 
I had a similar issue with Acrobat Pro on Win7 64-bit - read somewhere that some Adobe products had issues with the default installation path on certain PC's (not sure why though).
I eventually installed all my Adobe products to the root drive (eg: c:\Adobe Acrobat Pro\ and c:\Adobe CS3\ ) and have not had further issues.
 
I think I know what's wrong.


Uninstall EVERYTHING from adobe first - i'm talking about everything, Acrobat reader, everything.
after that, delete those semi-empty adobe folders still remaining....

Then try installing it again - should work.

well if he doesn't give feedback and this thread gets bumped up one day, i'm pretty sure it's because he did not uninstall everything adobe related first.
