I have removed all screws but something is holding the mouse pad down. I'm using the service manual and checked YouTube clips. Any ideas?

Look again, you probably missed some hidden screws. Got a link to the manual?

Look at the bottom of the laptop under one of the cover that covers the RAM and Hard Drive
The will most likely solve the issue

Also on mine there is small screws that is located in the bay where the optical drive is located.you need to remove the optical drive before removing the top cover.

Optical drive is out. Ram and HDD also. Gonna look for the umpteenth time now :(

no hidden screws by the touchpad if I recall correctly, its just clipped down

can you take a pic of the bottom of the notebook?

I think thats actually it
The two on the right are different to the two on the left?

There are nuts that need to be removed but I cant recall if its those 4
I think it was the 2 for the WLAN

They're not round though, they're hex

its nowhere in the manual or on youtube vids. fuuuuuuu!

OP what are you doing? The GPU reflow trick?

Mine's still running, on the few occasions I actually use it, actually surprised I haven't been bit with the well documented failures.

Theres a reflow trick? Is it the cleaning of the GPU and adding new thermal paste and fan cleanup?

My fan is grinding so I wanted to clean it and lubricate with q20 or some motor oil. But I'm not sure if I should just replace it incase it's gone off balance. It's a bit pricey

Only once the GPU has died, that is. And by all accounts many of them have, I think we are lucky if ours are still running by all accounts.

Fan cleanup is good, have not done mine yet, it seems okay but then has not been used that much in it's life.

was using my hp 24/7 downloading etc at home. had it on a cooling pad but it got blistering hot. any idea how i can monitor temperatures?

Don't use q20 or anything like it. Rather just use a drop of machine oil like you would use on a sewing machine etc.

i read about that. where can i get a little of it instead of buying a whole bottle for a few drops. if its like R20 ill buy it.
