the topic we were on BEFORE Arthur started posting was completely different. he changed it for the worse. I just want to go back to making ******y jokes and wait for the OP to say what happened

I agree with many of Arthur's opinions and have little difficult saying when I disagree and if apt why I disagree
Most people agree with many of Arthur's opinions - even if for different reasons to those underlying his reason for holding them - and I fear much of the objection that surfaces is without actually considering the argument underlying the opinion

I think this is a troll thread, OP makes a thread which is defiantly click bait material and then abandons his own thread.

Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack it. Yes, of course I know that my views are regarded as fledermausscheisse loopy by many or most in this thread. But they're not just something I dreamed up - until rather recently they were pretty standard in almost all circles (not that this is an argument, just an observation; pretty crazy ideas have been around for a long time).

Still, I'm rather keen to hear some reasoned rebuttals (no pun intended). I really hope they don't come down to "We all know the Catholic Church is wrong about most things; Arthur is Catholic; therefore Arthur is wrong". That doesn't rise above Monty Python's Professional Logician passage in the She's a Witch cameo.

see the problem is I do not want to go look through pages and pages of posts to give you a decent argument. I can probably give you one. but I view most of your posts as TL;DR.

start a new thread, lets do this. I am game. but not in here, its not the right place

Fair enough, Baxteen. That is a valid point.

I also don't feel like starting a new thread on this topic. It was here, and I thought I'd add my R0.02. I thought that's how open forums work.

I'll gladly retire from defending my thesis.
 
(Sudden thought: some people might not know that "thesis" in this context does not mean some great academic expostulation. It simply means a proposition put forward for consideration. See the first meaning here. It is an invitation to discourse.)

not trying to stifle creativity here mate.

but you took a thread that was fun and jovial and by adding your R0.002 the thread turned toxic, and rather than add to the lunacy I just want to get the thread back to fun again. and that is simply because I have 3 days left in my office before I start a new job, and I wont be able to mess around on here as much as I do now.
so I want the OP to post response already
