Trying to cancel dstv. They are really desperate to keep you by making the process impossible.

There was a system error. I was unable to disconnect the packages on your decoder.

Try again and again and again, but same messages

I am pretty sure these are no system errors, they just try to frustrate you in calling them and be pushed to a retentions department
 
100% sure it aint no system error, could down grade to the lowest R30,00 a month package without errors.

Anyway next months bill is R30.00 then I'll try again to cancel, but phone them instead and frustrate their retention department for a while, see how much effort they will do to keep me on a R30.00 a month package. Might start frustrating their call center with rubbish queries and complaints as well during the month.

I recorded the call to MC and when the lady gave me the system error message, I told her I would stop paying
She said you cannot do this, I said I already did
Got reminders to pay for 5 months, then it stopped
 
Tried canceling again online, got for the second time on a online chat.

The person on the other side of the chat responded with

you cannot cancel your packages yourself that s why you are getting that

So why have an option to cancel on the portal, but it will never work anyway.

Chat staff often just guess when they don't know, doubt it's intentional. I also had this cancel problem last week, and it was still not working online 2 days later, but there's a few items not working properly there.

For instance I changed which decoder I'm using (via call centre), days later it hadn't updated online.
And some other adjustment change I tried to make but can't remember what.

Call centre still works "best".
