DStv Premium cancellation headache

Which again shows the predatory nature of these services, I have run into this sort of thing from multiple providers over the years, I no longer sign debit orders and go without in any situation where it becomes unavoidable. No one has anything I need enough to sign my rights away.

Have you found an insurance company that doesn't insist on debit orders?

@Stonemason seems to have the solution ^^ , that is if one can always use a card number instead of an account number.

To be honest no, but at the same time, I don't have any insurance policies at all at the moment either.

My insurance needs are much lighter than other peoples, but I've found Nakes Insurance quite happy to let me pay via Credit Card for the R40 per month 3rd party car insurance. FedHealth were also ... mostly okay ... with me telling them I will pay via EFT rather than debit order. I mean, they list their banking details and reference numbers on the invoices, so I assume that they let enough people do this to include this information with the invoice.

With DStv, strangely the best option has become the call centre again - seen that a few times now. My web interface is messed up and they can't fix it so far. Using online help agents is also bad in my experience.

Yep
Their facebook has been good the last few years but they apparently canned it. The issues started when bots became the norm.

Wow. Fortunately we haven't needed new accounts for a long time.
I guess we can't blame service suppliers for this new angle, Saffers are not good with debt. More so now no doubt in these collapsing times.
It doesn't work though. People just ensure there's no money for the debit order.

Strange, I've never had a billing problem with DSTV and I upgrade/downgrade like crazy.
But I agree, the call centre is the best way to go. But that costs money if you're on prepaid.
