A normal lightning cable from Apple costs approx R300. Some time ago I found a Belkin cable 0.5metre for R136 from Shop and Ship in Rivonia, so i bought 2 - this cable works 100% properly like the apple cable. Now i find out, they dont stock them anymore...which is really a pity.

So i discovered "Amplify" distributors in Linbrow park (SMD Technologies) R50 a cable - they work...but not properly...they take FOREVER to charge any device - clearly the chinese havnt got it right, surely its not good for a device to trickle charge.

So my quest continues - i found this place - http://www.buymobile.co.za/index.php/mobile-cables-and-adaptors/lightning-cable.html - R175 a cable - Apple MFI Licensed. Going to try their cable.

Anybody know where i can buy a cheaper than original price for a cable that actually works?

I bought a cabble for R50 in Plaza JHB and it works tested a few different ones, just pop into your local pakistani cellphone shop.

+1 for the Kanex from Takealot, I have 2 of them, a 1 meter permanently plugged in my Mac in the study then a 2 meter on the charger next to my bed, both still going strong.
Few months ago I somehow bent the tip of my original Apple one so had to find a replacement, fortunately came across Kanex on Takealot and they looked decent quality, bonus was that I finally also had a excuse to buy a longer cable, those standard Apple ones are stupidly short.

I've had a couple of the Musica house-brand ones which look pretty decent and have lasted...think they're around R150
