Tshwane refuse lies uncollected... once again!

So this would be the second time this year that garbage is not being collected. This, after our "dear" mayor Gwen Ramokgopa promised residents in January that this would not happen again and that we would not have a repeat of last years chaos. Completely pathetic!

Yes, and it happened 6 times last year if I'm not mistaken. The honorable thing for the municipality to do would be to refund residents for this inconvenience, but I'm sure there is no chance of that happening.

Yeah, it's just sad. I wish we could start our own waste removal company and get a proper decrease on rates and taxes. I'm sure we can do it better than she!
 
Ours was also standing outside this morning, supposed to have been collected on Wednesday. I wonder why we are paying them to remove refuse, when they are not actually doing this. Were they a private company, the issues could have been sorted out.

Maybe if we all start dumping our refuse at the municipal offices, they will do something about it?.

Well when are you going to come fetch my bags then? 'coz I sure as hell aint going to dump those in my car... :D

Some bright students in the past have done it for pocket money when the garbage people are on strike. They get a bakkie and go house to house to and offer to go throw away your garbage for a small donation. I think they did very well in the end.
 
The mayor have basically cancelled all the departments's budgets for the next year so that she can declare the financial mess that the city finds itself in, sorted out.

Interesting times ahead. :mad:

Great idea! Was actually thinking of doing that myself. And luckily I'm within walking distance of the municipal offices in Centurion. So I might just go for a stroll with my wheelie bin tomorrow morning... :)

Some private company have also started doing this in the area, but I wonder if they dump this garbage at the designated areas. I can understand that the temptation is big to dump it somewhere else, but that will hurt us all and the environment in the long run.

At least we have a dump about 2km from my house
 
We also have problems with refuse collection in East London, rubbish get's stripped apart by "locals" looking for scraps and empty bottles when the monkeypality doesn't collect on time.

we have gone through so many turn-around-strategies - all useless I might add :( and we are paying more for rates, that's was their first grand idea, screwover the ratepayer, then our grand mayor decides to spend monkeypailty money on leather jackets on her overseas trip and to entertain friends?
 
Ours was collected Monday evening.

What the mayor should do, is to stick to her guns, outsource the work, and get it over and done with.

Sucks.

Gonna collect some dog poo, and let it brew inside one of our bins :twisted: That way, when they will come to collect our refuse, they'll also get The Smell :sick: :D

:) Mine is already about 1/3 dirty nappies... can't wait to see the look on their faces

Is there no way you can remove yourself from the muni's list. Not pay your waste removal? Then get the whole comunity to do it and take that money and pay a company (just not waste man or pikitup)? Like the comunity watch and forums?
 
Thought about that before, but there's a few problems. I have a duplex, and the waste removal is included in the levies. Also, where do you drop the waste? Can you just drop it at the municipal dumping sites, or are there legal issues with that?

Basically, you're going to have to be part of your ward's committee and you will then use your position to lobby the appropriate people in the municipality for better service contracts, whilst at the same time approaching members of the human rights commission to demand that the community legally gets the best service that they possibly can for the money spent.
