Tshwane refuse lies uncollected... once again!

the problem you are going to have is that the service providers does not want to work with guavament. The bill never gets paid. Much like Eskom.

( i'm moving that side soon)

The do have contracts with guys like Pickitip and Wasteman, it's not working cause the money is not getting to the right people. If you dig hard enough you will find a guavament person involved with the Wasteman scandal.

I think we should ask for the payment structure to change. I suggested ( for eskom) I want to pay the service provider. THen they can pay the municipalities for the service the muni delivers for them.
It would work for the waste to.

Do not cut the guava's out just let them stand second in line when it comes to money.

So this would be the second time this year that garbage is not being collected. This, after our "dear" mayor Gwen Ramokgopa promised residents in January that this would not happen again and that we would not have a repeat of last years chaos. Completely pathetic!

Thought about that before, but there's a few problems. I have a duplex, and the waste removal is included in the levies. Also, where do you drop the waste? Can you just drop it at the municipal dumping sites, or are there legal issues with that?

As far as i now.. no. They could not manage it and gave it to outside companies to do... But I'm talking under correction.

Seems like the city council have been granted immunity no matter how much money they literally steal from the ratepayer.

No wonder SA has some of the highest crime rates in the world. The government sets the example on how to rob people blind for others to follow.

Awesome idea......

Well when are you going to come fetch my bags then? 'coz I sure as hell aint going to dump those in my car... :D

Lol, just wheel your bin there, or if it's too far, hook it to the back of your car, and tow it along. Can you imagine seeing a convoy of cars towing their wheelie bins to the municipal offices! :D

Great idea! Was actually thinking of doing that myself. And luckily I'm within walking distance of the municipal offices in Centurion. So I might just go for a stroll with my wheelie bin tomorrow morning... :)

Cool, can you imagine how quickly they will clean it up when they get to their offices, and find a pile of rotting refuse there. If my car had a towbar, would hire a trailer and take as much rubbish as I could to dump at the municipal offices, even froot's!

Ours was collected Monday evening.

What the mayor should do, is to stick to her guns, outsource the work, and get it over and done with.

Sucks.

Gonna collect some dog poo, and let it brew inside one of our bins  That way, when they will come to collect our refuse, they'll also get The Smell  :D

This is the reason why they are striking about. The waste collection is outsorced, but the workers wanted to work for the municipality. So when the contract finished they were suppose to get a pay check that says Tswane Metro, but it still says the outsource company.

The last stike was they still didn't received their pay when they were first striking. Let's hope common sense prevails next year in the local elections.

The biggest problem for me isn't even that this is happing again. It's the fact that this useless municipality has absolutely no contingency plan in place. When I phoned them yesterday and asked when they will be picking up my trash they told me to just leave it outside, it will be picked up... when I then demanded a date and exact time from them, they couldn't give it to me. Well I'm sorry but it takes x amount of time to remove 1 bin. Since we all have to pay for refuse removal, they know how many bins they need to collect. Therefore, x times n = total time. If this process is managed at all (which I suppose they have now proven it's not) they should have a set route for the workers to follow (even if they are using another company to pick up the backlog). So therefore they should be able to tell me pretty much to within 15 minutes of when they will be picking up my garbage.

The fact that they are incapable of doing this just shows what an absolute mess this municipality is.

So… our garbage is supposed to be collected on Tuesdays. It’s now Thursday and our garbage once again lies uncollected. Another strike? Who knows. With that poor excuse for a department I suppose your chances of winning the lotto is greater than having your garbage picked up.
