So I am bored at work, wanna see if I can get WoW to work from here. But ofc the WoW port is blocked. Any ideas on how to try and tunnel it through http port or something? Is it even possible?

something like proxifier, but you still need to use a proxy server with it. or maybe a vpn service...

...still anyway decent systems admin would easily block those too- you know it is done so for a reason :D you could always stick you phone in and play via 3g ;)

if the ain't retards they make sure u don't play wow :P

you can still use hsdpa at work to play wow, if your really desparate :P

True. For the greater part the experiment was just to see if I could get it going through the firewall :-) Maybe if you give the fw admin a 10 day pass he will let me through...

Admin that blocks SSH ports are noobs so try stuff like Gamemax. Works from where I am :P Since it uses Putty and SSH protocol too connect ^^

If you have enough downtime at work to be contemplating WoW then you should rather convince your boss to go home early once the work is finished.

You wish, I by default block ssh out, or at the very least bind it to a specific IP. People who dont block SSH are noobs. There are very few good admins out there, so test to see if you can putty to a server, then speak to avert about a tunnel account :D

Boss is on leave, but meh, I am too loyal to just bail. I have work to do, but this time of the year?! No...

so how exactly will they ssh too external servers if they block it? :p anyways they dont block it here so it owns but then again its not like i can play wow here anyways..open plan office fails...

They setup the routing and firewalling correctly thats how. They make it so that only their machine (bound to mac address and IP), can only connect to the IP of their servers and no others.

Thats what a good admin would do. An admin that doesnt know much would just allow anyone to ssh to anywhere.

Download putty.exe and put avert.za.org into the address then try connect, if it does connect (you will be promoted for a username and password) speak to Avert about an account.. you will then be able to tunnel out just using that and FreeCap (a small program).... and its pretty simple.
