Why are they "Islamic extremists"? Do you have some evidence to show that they are? The Kurds have been oppressed by Iran, Iraq and Turkey for years. Turkish treatment of Kurds has been despicable.
The Kurds are fighting for their freedom - nothing extremist about that. Remember Afrikaaners fought the British for theirs not too long ago, you would do well to remember what the British said about them.

The Kurds are openly American allies. I doubt the US forms alliances with "extremists". They are probably better described as nationalists, like Basques, Kosovo Albanians etc.
