The Transportation Security Administration wants U.S. bound travellers to prove their phones aren’t explosive devices

Funny: in all my travels it's always seemed like the bigger issue is getting people to switch their phones OFF when boarding ;-)

I think they want to verify that the battery has not been substituted for some explosive mixture. I read that some "plastique" about the size of a mobile phone battery can do a lot of damage. Would not want that to happen at 35000 feet

I've had it before, especially with laptops. They want you to turn it on to prove that it's a laptop and not a bomb.

Next thing they'll be making you check in your phone/laptop/device like it's a firearm that needs to be transported... Check in before the flight, receive when you land.

The ridiculous security theater that is the TSA should be abolished. Colossal waste of time and money.
