Tutorial DRIFTA on ANY Android Device

I can confirm that the drifta works on a HTC Desire (running gingerbread) - not the HD. AWESOME !!!!

Non rooted? I've got the non HD desire with the official 2.3 upgrade and it crashes if I go past the TV guide screen.

Fyi. Dstv has added 3 HTC devices to the official supported devices app

Update... Just tried it. Unsupported Device error.
I have an unrooted HTC.desire hd

I'm getting the same, the problem that I'm sitting now with, is that I can't get the "patched" version installed, not nice.

Not really because when I am the office, I can plug my drifta into my pc and watch on a secondary screen, and have my phone connected to the wifi.
When I am on the road however, if I watch the drifta, the phones wifi is connected to it, making the device automatically disable the 3g (because it thinks the wifi is an internet connected), therefor disabling the ability to get whatsapp messages and emails.

Nick - I'm with you on this issue. I actually think it's a programming fault on the part of the Drifta developers. Because I have an Eye-Fi card that wirelessly connects to my SGS to upload photos straight out the camera. That device also connects to the phone's Wifi, so any other wireless connection is dropped, BUT THEN the 3G is simply activated, so I carry on receiving data, messages, etc.

But the Drifta seems to identify itself as an internet device, so it takes over the Wifi AND disables the 3G. Annoying.

Though I am enjoying finally being able to watch Supersport 1 on my Android phone...

If you're referring to the first post of the thread - I assume it's as a result of the standard DSTV scare tactics.

And all that because DSTV could or would not meet its commitments !!!

And stll hasn't for non-Samsung users (and even some of those).

I dont get what their problem is, thanx to mybroadband and the resent developments I know of at least 3 new paying customers. and if my direct circle of friends is anything to go by I am sure there is a lot more.

So in essence they just said, please stop helping us make money.

Not entirely surprised by the multichoice tactics

Well he posted it so never fear guys, im sure others will come to his aid and make it available on more secure channels.

They can't even keep stock of the drifta. What a joke of a company, wouldn't be to worried!

I assume then your real name is Frans H....

They probably went through their database of drifta users that fit that pattern. There may have been a number of similar calls/emails sent out from multichoice today.
