I just bought a Compro Videomate S500 but I cant seem to find any channels be it Sabc, mnet or dstv (I have a dstv and mnet decoder) The software keeps telling me no signal. Has anyone had any problems like this?

Any help would be great

Use the componet input(yellow red black), pc monitors have high resolution if you use those analog copper(RF) cables you'll get snow even a little will be very irratating, on a TV its less noticable. You wont have to scan just choose av input.

If you insist on using copper cable do a complete scan not a quick scan its gonna take very long

Assuming you connect via RF (coax) , you have set it to "Antenna" ?

The "antenna" part in the compro software is greyed out, I cant select it

Its got 3 choices, Digital Tv, cable and antenna, only selectable one is Digital tv

Make sure the product you purchased is made for South Africa and it should be PAL/i , also reinstall your software and choose PAL/i , we found this to be a common problem.hope this helps-esq

seriously loose the RF cable. But on my card both "cable" and "antenna" do the same thing both pick up sabc123e etc with an antenna connected. Remember to set to PAL

Thing is it only has 2 Rf connecters, no aerial socket, thats why I had to remove the aerial connector and replace it with a Rf one. I have reinstalled drivers, software to the latest, no luck :( It is on PAL/i aswell...

If you mean the power adapter that came with the unit then yes :)

Only two RF connectors like the one you use to connect the dish to the dstv decoder?
Isnt this 'n digital card? Arent you suppose to connect the satelite to it?

I cant check cuz i'm capped if you have a local link with the specs i can check

yes Vegeta, 1 is a in the other a out. So am I screwed now? lol i wont be able to pick up normal channels then?

Oh dear shel but all is not lost... I checked out the link that luke provided it has:
1. RF input (DVB-S digital TV signal)
2. RF output
3. Composite video input
4. S-Video input

Use option 3... use composite cables from your DSTV decoder and you will be able to watch dstv on your pc.

Thanks man but dstv is the lounge and my pc in my room :( Plus I bought it thinking ill be able to watch like SABC etc aswell. I think I'll see if the suppliers would let me exchange it, although I highly doubt it

Use a wireless AV transmitter to transmit the av input to your room. You can buy them at GAME. Some of these transmitters come with remote blaster to also change the channel others you will have to buy the remote blaster seperate if you want to change channels from your room. Thats if you cant exchange it. If you can exchange or get your cash back buy a Hauppauge they're the best i have a budget one PVR 150 MCE. They're awesome they work with windows media centre you can do all the PVR stuff pause live tv timeshift record and the quality is great.

Dude, I think you need a decoder, and a dish, to see dstv.
Some thingy that you stick up you pc's usb port ain't gonna bypass the entire
System, so you can watch satellite tv for free.
