TV not powering on... Possible lightning damage

Lol will try my best, you think if I mention a positive rating bonus on hello peter will constitute as a bribe :P

Void and warranty are two words I don't want to hear in the same sentence, so not gonna even try to think about messing with anything internal.

Also we have another crt TV linked to the same outside aerial and that works fine...

The LG technician came through today, checked the TV was not powering up and said I should be getting a replacement unit soon pending a confirmation check with makro. Reason being that the model number was not listed on the till slip... Didn't think that would be the hard part of things :)

Was it Lukas?

Drove all the way from Germiston to the west rand, just to check that the TV does not power up... That's commitment!

James I think

heh ok.
LG's service is legendary. My TV was a year old when it developed a problem. They came out and checked it, confirmed they'd be replacing it. Then they phoned to say they had a problem, they had no stock of my model, and would I please be happy if they offered me an upgrade? :D

I wish I get that too!

So how long do they take to deliver... Told the technician that I needed it by Saturday but I'm still waiting :( plus I'm back to work tomorrow so its a crappy end to the holiday

Don't whine. You're getting a free tv. ;)

The last numbers I had sight of showed that on average, only 2.5% of damaged goods ever have the warranties/guarantees enforced by the consumer. This is why companies make a special effort to show commitment to their terms, and extend some great terms to consumers, such as replacements issued with minimal questioning. So you can thank the 97.5% of apathetic consumers for this.

Always claim on the warranties and guarantees manufacturers provide you with. It costs you next to nothing apart from time...

Once approved should they have given me a code or something? Or will they just show up at the front door with my new TV :)

They will phone you to set up a delivery appointment.

Sorry another thing, when they take the old set, do they ask for all the accessories as well? Like the remote, glasses, power cable, etc...

Yes if you have them. If not they don't seem to mind too much.

I'll just tell the guys at home to give only the TV and box then :P
