Twisp - Electronic cigs

I prefer twisp to smoking real ciggies, but the cartridges have a very short lifespan, find they're almost dry after 40-50 puffs. This isn't really a way to save money on smoking.

also battery life is very, very short - maybe 90-100 puffs before needing a recharge.

maybe the tech will get better with time.

I also really enjoy my twisp, and dont travel anywhere without it. Although I still smoke analogs but a lot less.

Unfortunately over here the price of the juices seem inflated and if one is smoking these devices to save money then I dont think it is any cheaper, especially considering the initial outlay on the devices. It would be primarily for health and smoke anywhere reasons that you would use one.

I must say the service i've received from twisp has been good. Just juice and spares supply seems to be an issue. Hopefully twisp can try and get the supply and demand issue sorted soon!

The twisp to me is fast becoming a hobby, mixing up juices together for weird flavours (lab on desk), pulling on filters for max effect etc.

Difference

Here is the difference:

from a ex 2k per month tobacco smoker, now on twisp for 1 month!

The mini - looks like a cigasrette, but battery life short and you have to refill much more. (@ one braai, use both batteries flat and about 6 x refills)

Classic and Dura C - Battery lasts about 3 times longer, draw MUCH easier (10 x easier and you get supperioir smoke and tast) Be warned, you get hooked on these things aswell, and polar mint does not tast lik ementhols!

I'm a programmer, and spend 16 hours a day behind PC, so I use a USB adapter with my Classic and batteries not used when behind the PC.

When using the USB, the heater does not heat up the same as with a battery (I assume the current is a bit less)

Don't get fooled by the money saving, my sigarette use was 2k and my liquid use 1,2k (6 bottles a month).

The manual switch on the classic is nicer to use as the auto switch because you control the heater with the switch, and it is not controlled by airflow.

Be warned using the manual switch, if it is in your pocket (jean) and the botton get depressed for long whiole you not smoking the atomizer WILL burn out and a new one will set you back R200.

You tend to double and tiple clutch an ecigarette because you want to build up more smoke, whereas with a tobacco cigarette, you only draw once. - So if the manufacturer say 10 puffs, then times it by 3, because you clutch, clutch, puff! - and this is why the amount off puffs on paper does not match what is happening in real life!

THIS WILL NOT HELP YOU TO STOP SMOKING, BUT IT WILL TAKE YOU OFF TOBACCO CIGARETTES! (ask me, I did smoke 60 a day for 20 years, and it was easy to stop with the tobacco when I started the ecigarette)

My opinion:
the eliquid is too expensive, I bet you it only take 10% of cost to manufacturer.
druggies will use it with their own "liquids", pitty this will maybe cause a ban on the devices in the future. (imagine a coce addict smoking away on his twisp in public)
this is NICER and BETTER than cigarettes, (if it tast like burning paper, then you maybe using the malboro flavour, get camel (turkish).
coffee flavour task like cheap instant coffee mixed with toffee. - I don't like this!
Polar mint is nice (its not like menthols, but more like polar mint beachies)
All the flavours except for tobacco flavour: you get used to the tast very quickly and later-on the flavour seems not to be stong enough anymore.
Suppliers are sh*t - they always out of stok with tobacco flavour.
Refilling does not tast as good as a NEW cart.

Enjoy!

OK, I'm sold on one of these.

Going to order the Dura-C with 10 extra cartridges and cherry, roasted tobacco and Polar Mint flavour liquids...

I wonder if the guys at twisp could tell me why smaller sellers are selling the 10ml bottle of liquid for 70 rand less?

Speak to menez on the forums, he sent me a doc with their pricing and the bottles are 120 as opposed to 199 bucks, so wait actually that is nearer 80 bucks, as good as 80 bucks cheaper.

Well to me the ecigi they sell looks identical to the twisp, twisp is not the actually name of the company who makes these ecigi's it is just branded as twisp by twisp.

Not sure about the liquid but honestly 199 for 10ml of liquid seem a bit high.

Man that is crazy, pm menez or me and i'll send you the thingie or he can send it for you.

250 bucks if menez's chicks liquid is as good then you could have bought 2 bottles and a coke :p

Hey Killa,

i haven't tried them all - but the non-twisp versions i had really sucked - returned them all, there seems to be at least a level of quality control with twisp. I do agree that the prices are high though. Still, would rather pay that bit extra for a product that works well. The dura-c is really well constructed, made of steel and performs well.

Well assagai i will always try a cheaper product and prove to myself paying double the amount is justified.

Where did you these other liquids from? No you can't get much coke for 10 bucks :p

Killa, i went that route too, tried the cheaper options, they were really inferior.
Another thing I like about twisp is the local presence, they answer your questions quite fast if you submit queries via the website.

I got the other liquid from JJ Cale tobbaconist.

Yea but menez's chick is selling twisp like stuff, looks identical just branded different that is why i say the liquid may be identical.

JJ cale does not sound like a place that buy the liquid from where twisp gets it from. Do not see cartridges on their list only in the starter pack.

Starter Pack R600
10ml Bottle of eLiquid R120
Charger R100
USB Charger R100
Atomiser R120
Battery R175

There is a listing of their products and the ecigi looks identical to the twisp one.

Looks like the twisp to me so i would imagine the liquid could very possibly come from the same source.

JJ Cale has both twisp and non-twisp branded products, including the cartridges etc. (However they are more expensive then buying directly from twisp)

I understand wanting to save some money, just sharing my experience, the cost cutting was not worth it.
Yes there are other models that look identical, but do not perform as well.
