I cannot find the Vaping thread so please move accordingly if need be.

Basically I'm looking to stop smoking after getting sick far too often recently and interested in a Twisp device after hearing few friends bringing down their smoking habits. I do not understand the vape game at all and certainly wouldn't be interested in Direct to lung devices. I have decided on Twisp because said friends have been using their devices. I also do not know any other reputable brands so I thought I'd stick with this as a start. I also do not plan to stop smoking immediately and gradually lower the amount of cigarettes per day. So this device will be used in conjunction with smoking everyday, depending on the kick it gives.

I understand the basic components of the mouth to lung devices from Twisp. I'm looking at the Clearo 2, Ion and Edge X. Though I just spoke to Twisp and they said the Edge X is getting discontinued. That leaves me with the other 2.
Basically want to know the advantages and disadvantages of these 2? All I see on the website is that the Ion has a larger battery and atomizer tank and 1.0 ohm head. What else? I do not know about the coils etc. and the effect of these. For those that have been in the game, what would you recommend? This is just a start device and I do not know if I will ever go to direct to lung devices. Other concerns: (average smokes of 20 per day for comparison). Current monthly spend R750 on cigarrettes.
How long do these coils last?
How long does the liquid last? I plan to buy the Tobacco 18mg.

Also see both these devices are currently on special at Clicks, cheaper than Twisp themselves.

Many thanks

If you are a smoker I would recommend the Twisp Cue to start. Simple to use and cheap at R399 (They do have specials like at VapeCon recently at R300). The flavours are pretty good and it's a great place to start!

Many thanks, was speaking to a buddy about my plans and he lent me a Clearo 2 to use for a few days. I have one question before I even start, how much liquid do I fill in the tank?! The clearo 2 turns upside down to fill, just not sure till where I need to stop.

Clearo 2 is great to start with. basically when you fill up, make sure you do not fill beyond the the silver tunnel in the center. Maybe just stop a little before you reach the top of the silver tunnel.

the amount of liquid you use depends on how much you vape/smoke. so thats something you have to figure out, coils last about 3-4 weeks, here also depends on usage but also make sure you clean it everyday, initially vape guys told me the coil last about 2 weeks, but we easily got a month our of it.

Yes I've read about cleaning coils. But how does one do this? Its basically a closed unit, do I remove and physically wash it?

I've just disassembled a Clero coil and they look like a real pain to clean with the wick running though the centre of the coil. The Aero coils on the other hand are a breeze. I can do 4 or five of those in ten minutes and be set for ages.

Well as a newbie I didn't know it involves disassembling to clean etc.

If you want to get a used coil in shape again you need to re wick it, I use cotton wool, and burn off all the residue from the coil itself. Not sure how to go about doing something like that TBH

I haven't stopped smoking completely and still have the cigs after meals etc. or long drives. But during the work hours I've managed to not have any cigarettes since 9am this morning till lunch. Normally would have around 4 by lunch.

Also got the 18mg toasted tobacco flavour which gives a harsh throat hit. Not sure if it's the toasted flavour or what. A bit too much for my liking that I'm going to get normal 8mg tobacco flavour now.

Agreed about the Toasted, Tobacco #1 nicer IMO.

Just picked it up from clicks for R150. Will mix it with the toasted hopefully to tune it down a bit.

Edit: much smoother with the 8mg tobacco #1 mixed in. Though I think this will be a bit too light on it's own. Guess I should try 18mg tobacco #1 next time.

Buying from Clicks is such a waste of money. Go big and buy 500 ml bottles at a time for like R 300.00 and it will last you for 6 months.
70'% VG as VG has the vapour. PG has little vapour. Nicotine at 3 mg is enough for me. No flavour as after some time you will taste nothing anyway.
I started vaping 7 years ago and from day one I never had a stinkie.

Oh and don't bother cleaning the coils as it is a waste of time. Mine lasts 6 weeks.

ok no, i dont do that... just open up the coil(unscrew it from the barrel), wipe it dry with a tissue, twist the tissue to a pin size then put it in the coil to clean out any extra fluid that went in... then screw it back on. i dont take out the wick etc... if a coil lasts me a month, im good.. they like R180 for 3 so not a deal breaker for me as far as cost is concerned, as the same with you, i used to smoke 2 cartons or more a month, so going this route actually is saving me quiet a bit

Not all liquids are created equal. I stick with the high mg Twisp juices because I can't find the flavours I like elsewhere and I vape MTL.

3mg is fine if you're pluming all day long but that's your problem, not mine. :p

There are three things on my WTF list. Decaf, non-alcoholic beer, and 0mg vaping. ;)

Oh and vegetarians who eat fake sausages, so make that four.

Wow cool. What device do you have btw?

Also, what device do you have?
And you say "elsewhere"? Have you used non-twisp juices in your twisp device?
I also prefer some nicotine kick coming from cigarettes, so as this goes along i'll see if I can reduce the nic content. Hoping for the best here, but so far I've managed to replace some cigarettes with the twisp. Those ones you just light up for no reason at all lol.

Many thanks for all your inputs. Its all new to me and hoping someday i can leave the cigarettes completely, heck I'll even be happy if i reduced to 3 a day from 20.
