Did you read Alan Carr?

I have actually. I found it pretty hard the first time to stop as I guess allot of smokers do. This time around I am biting the bullet pretty hard. The headaches were getting pretty bad and popping pain killers to combat that was not helping the stomach. I will have to go read his book again I think.

The whole Twisp thing just got me thinking that there is a non nicotine flavours out there. It probably will end up reigniting the habit as so many has said in the post that it was a stupid idea to start of with.

Thanks for the motivation. Was getting a bit complaisant there for a moment. :)

how is any form of nicotine in a small or large quantity healthy ?

Nicotene itself in those small doses is not particularly harmful but its a buttload better than normal cigarettes with all of the other contaminants they contain.

Nicotine is the addiction though and that is what you want to avoid.

It doesn't help with quitting. Just stop smoking.

Don't be stupid. Everyone I know who got a twisp still smokes. Most stopped for a while when they first started using the twsip but eventually got bored of it and started smoking more.

i smoke but i don't smoke in my house or my car, and beware the person who does. i smoke vogue slims which is a light cigarette, but there is still that cigarette smoke smell if you are in the house or car. so that is why i don't smoke in my home or car.

Ecigs got me totally off cigs - 15 months totally smoke free, no problems with withdrawal and I feel great. Even got back to my goal weight in this time, which is in in contrast to the weight gain typically experienced by ex smokers.

No, you want to avoid the carcinogens and the tar which causes cancer and copd. Nicotine addiction is no more of a health problem than caffeine addiction, the advantages far outweigh the cons for some of us.

As a long time Vaper, I must add this:

Nicotine is not unhealthier than caffeine is.
The liquid used is Glycol and/or Glycerin that is used as a base is what you consume daily in many foodstuffs and is the bulk of cough syrups and even asthma pumps.
Your posts stating "just stop" is from people that don't smoke and think it is easy to stop. You don't know how very difficult it really is because you have not been there.

I have been tobacco free for 3 years now thanks to the e cigarette. The Twisp and the cigarette lookalike stuff don't work as I've
spent big bucks trying them out to no avail.
Get the 3'rd generation and I promise you that you will not only stop but you will have a new hobby.

I now mix my own liquid at R20 per week compared to R420 pw when I was smoking.
Have a peep at the SA ecig forum ecigssa.co.za

How do you know we haven't been there? I smoked for 15 years and when I got tired of not being able to breath properly when I woke up in the morning I just stopped. It's not actually as difficult as smokers think .

Not for me. I wanted to stop burning tobacco. THAT is what does the damage to you. Not the nicotine. The nicotine just keeps you doing it.
Vaping get 4.5 years now and still addicted to nicotine. Don't care though cause I feel great.

You still burning tobacco and inhaling piles of toxins from it though.

+1. Aug this year will be my 5th year without touching a cigarette. Thanks to the eCig.

Condescending much? You may have had the willpower to stop, but others don't. For some it's not as easy as just going cold turkey.

I'm not being condescending, I'm being honest. I think stopping is easier than smokers think. People use all these patches and gum and vapes because they believe they can't stop without it. But they can. And it's easier than you think. It's psychological mostly, the physical symptoms of withdrawal are unpleasant but not life threatening or debilitating. Also, people that stop cold turkey tend to remain non-smokers while people who try to stop using assistance like patches or vapes tend to either not stop at all or start smoking again when things get tough.

I think it varies from person to person.
I tried to stop at least 10 times, got to 6 months on the longest attempt.
I have been vaping for just over 3 years now and I never feel the need for a normal ciggie anymore.

?

So I'm smelling what exactly?

This was one of the things that astounded me when I stopped smoking. I could actually smell things again. I didn't even realise, as a smoker, how much my sense of smell had deteriorated - I thought I could smell fine. Then I stopped and about a week later I was blown away by all the smells and scents of everything around me that I just hadn't sensed while a smoker. It's quite an eye opener. Or nose opener, or whatever.

Yeah I noticed it when I stopped smoking and started vaping too. Also a sense of taste, big difference when you stop smoking.

I actually agree with joelus' last handful of posts in this thread... This doesn't happen often.

I think many, many smokers invest a fair amount of energy in convincing themselves that quitting is more difficult than it is. I know I did. It's only after consciously considering just how mild nicotine withdrawal is that quitting became easy. Heading for two years tobacco-free, and have not experienced any craving, ever.
