Lots of pointless babble on Twitter

Forty percent of the messages on Twitter are "pointless babble" along the lines of "I am eating a sandwich now", according to a study conducted by a US market research firm.

How dare they call my babble pointless?!?!

Wasn't this the reason Twitter was started though? Compare it to status updates on Facebook - those are even more pointless, and if I remember right, that's what Twitter was supposed to be.

It just evolved into something bigger than it's creators intended - but some people are still going to use it for pointless bits and pieces. My tweets are 50/50 tbh - I'll tweet something pointless when I'm bored, the other 50% are either tweets from my blogs or random news I'm passing along.

Then again, 2000 tweets? Vs the millions that go through on a daily basis? That's hardly representative, is it?

Tell a hundred people the well is poisoned and some of them will not drink from it. That is all you can hope from posting things like this. Lucky for human kind we have a lot of spares and can afford to spend some on the poisoned well.

I won't call this article pointless, as it is highlighting an important fact. But the problem I do have is the numbers of pointless twits is a bit low.
