Two factor Authentication -- validation code not working ?

Trying to learn more MAC stuff
Looking at two factor authentication ( being forced on you via iCloud )

I can go through all the steps all the passwords are working
SO
I receive the 6 character code via text message fine -- comes through straightaway (using "trusted" device set up previously = mobile )
BUT
When I input the code that was sent , -- into the MAC which is online it is NOT accepted ( checked carefully and numbers showing on screen exactly the same as numbers sent
I try again to input the code sent but after three attempts it tells me wrong code and try again later WTF
Later is anything from 8hrs to 24 hrs
I have tried this TWICE now already !

I really do not need iCloud and all the other stuff just trying to teach myself in-outs of Apple ( I am a masochist )

ANY ideas as to WHY Apple is NOT accepting / verifying /processing the codes it sent to the mobile ?
Internet connection is fine -- SAFARI working 100%

Must be some MAC fanb0yz somewhere that have an answer ........

Update - SUCCESS

Quick update

Tried again at 06h00AM this morning
Everything worked a bomb -- Two Factor ( 2FA ) now working on ALL my MAC devices.

Maybe APPLE do not work on a Sunday ?
Maybe too many new Apple fanboys with iPhoneX ?
Maybe one needs to switch on location features on all machines ?

Will have to find out how one can check how busy the Apple servers are ....

Just another problem I have had to puzzle out myself -- Apple sure gets you to work your brain !

I think it's quite possible that it was impacted by the verification overload they experienced due to the iPhone X release.
