Two provinces near economic collapse

Can we finally all agree that ANC voters need their heads read? They just luuuuuurve to struggle while the head honchos snuffle at the trough. It really is beyond comprehension.

This country will be history by the time these idiots catch a wake up.
 
At least the money is being spent on something in case of Gauteng.

Johannesburg - Gauteng has for the first time toppled the Western Cape as South Africa's most productive province for 2011, an independent local government and data intelligence organisation said on Tuesday.

"Service delivery, low poverty levels and high expenditure in the municipalities and metros are some of the factors that put the province on top," Municipal IQ economist Karen Heese said.

Gauteng scored 64.3 to the Western Cape's 63.8. The national average was 53.3. The Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal occupied the 8th and 9th spots respectively.

Johannesburg also took the top spot among the nine biggest cities on economic conditions and continued spending despite tough economic conditions.

However, Heese said there were still several backlogs in Gauteng that needed to be overcome, especially in housing.

Clear gains in the number of indigent households supported meant local government was expanding development, the organisation's managing director Kevin Allan said.

The organisation said the number of major municipal service delivery protests decreased nationally in 2011, as of the end of November, compared to 2009 and 2010. It could not immediately provide figures.

In 2011 Gauteng did not see as many protests as in previous years, with slightly more protests taking place in the Western Cape.

The western cape is run by the DA and Limpopo is run by the ANC, which happens to be Malema's home base and his best friend is premier. A lot of black people that support Malema do so because they don't like white people, they support him because of their anger and hatred towards white people. They would rather support someone that will promise them fairytale freebies and hope that white people will be dealt with (by Malema) than support someone that will deliver basic services to them. The reason I wish the Limpopo province collapses is that it will make people aware that supporting people just because they look like them and talk like them doesn't always work. People will therefore start supporting someone like Mazibuko or Zille.
 
The problem is you cannot spend yourself out of bankruptcy, which is what they are trying to do.

I think when Zille/Mazibuko wins places like Gugulethu, Khayelitsha, Langa, Nyanga, many more people will support her. Positive messages out of those places will sell DA better than Limpopo collapsing.

I am, proudly so :). I believe that SA must have a 2 party state, not a one party state. I believe the DA must get stronger and win more votes as time passes. A 2 party state will likely make political parties work harder for the people.
 
So let me get this straight - two provinces are approaching financial collapse but "heads will roll" only if illegal activity is found?!

FFS, that is the most backwards bloody statement to make. Really I am starting to become more disenchanted with this country by the day...
 
I just hope that they do not do the unthinkable of raising taxes and trying a New Deal. It will send this country into a depression.

They already started back dating Increases on your property taxes in two of these three provinces. They want us to pay toll in gauteng which will mean bigger loads on alternative routes, which is not in a good condition anymore. To improve these roads your rates and taxes will go up. In the meantime we will keep on paying for corrupt suspended police and politicians to go to elaborate parties.
 
I'm very surprised that the Eastern Cape is not on that list. After Limpopo it must be the most corrupt and poorly administered province.
 
Well in all fairness it is only the water and lights that sucks at Pretoria, our roads are in a pretty decent condition. I cycled about 50km through Pretoria today and hardly found big potholes in the eastern side.

Garsfontein and Atterbury is kidna screwed, although Hans Strijdom and the Boschkoppad is relatively good. Compared to Empire road in Joburg, it is awesome.

"Vote us in and we'll fix the mess", "We can fire them unless you vote us"

True. Most roads are still oke. They even tarred a piece of delmas road. Hans Strijdom past waterkloof high is starting to fall a part. The rietvlei road as well. The thing is they are going to take on a load more traffic once people are going to try and avoid the toll gates. Hans strijdom is going to turn into a nightmare. All the trucks that will skip the n1 n4 piece with 3 gates. Once the roads go south they will put up the rates and taxes.
Granted, the roads here is lovely compared to the east rand.
