Hi All,

I have a Huawei B593 router which is used for my LTE connection until fiber is installed. I also have a Cisco Linksys X3500 that I used to use when I had ADSL. I am trying to create a home network that will require all my devices connect via the X3500 and the B593 be the internet connection for the X3500 and linked devices.

I don't know what I am doing and need help.

From what I could find, I made the X3500 IP 192.168.1.1 with DHCP left on and the range from .100 to .149 and the B593 IP 192.168.1.2 as well as switched off the DHCP.

From here I am stuck. I read something about setting up the X3500 IP now as static but not sure how.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

PS....I don't like networks so please feel free to break it down for me so my baby nephew could understand.

Well, its a proper start. However you didn't mention how you connect cable between B593 and Cisco. If you connect B593 LAN port to the Cisco LAN port, you essentially degrade Cisco to work as an ordinary Ethernet switch/hub.

I expect you want to do all routing on Cisco, then connect B593 LAN port to the Cisco WAN port (perhaps marked as 'Cable'). Some extra setting is required on Huawei. Disable WiFi (while you can still run separate access point if required). Setup port forwarding to IP 192.168.1.1 (all ports in and all out, all protocols). In this configuration it doesn't matter whether you disable DHCP on B593. If you leave it enabled, Cisco should pick up all Internet setting from B593, default gateway and ISP DNS servers.

Port forwarding on B593 is covered with details here: https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/575591-The-Huawei-B593-LTE-discussion-thread

I have no experience with these routers, so I can't help in details. On the Cisco side you might need to activate Ethernet WAN interface, setup default gateway and point it to B593 IP (192.168.1.2) - recommended, but it should pick it up automatically as mentioned above.
