Many still call any vacuum cleaner a hoover.

I've always called them hiltis as a generic term. Can't think of a time when a hardware store assistant didn't know exactly what I meant.

Second best tip if you don't have a vacuum cleaner handy: tape the inside edge of a super market bag to the wall just below where you are drilling. That'll catch the majority of the brick dust.

Usually SO that wants the holes so she gets to help (that way I have less holes to drill)
